Very old school , family environment. Archaic claims system . Benefits awful . Pay is commensurate with your experience. Good time off . Set in their ways and not willing to get out of the Stone Age with claims processes

Disorganized Mess

The company was better before they stopped using the Eagle as the brand insignia. It feels like things are deteriorating. They tell us we are improving, yet we can’t get simple office supplies.

Best employment decision thus far!

I came to the company in May 2022 and have never looked back. I am valued, supported, encouraged, and have been given so many opportunities. Preferred Mutual is a company like no other I have worked for, they see my potential and I truly feel like such an asset. I have also taken advantage of the schooling they provide, it’s online, at your own pace, and definitely helps with advancement opportunities.

Super nice people , small company, enjoyed my time working in claims. Even though I worked remotely, it is sort of a close family-like working environment.

Terrible management from the top down

Salary below average. Benefits less than most companies. Reimbursed only 30 cents a mile for company car use and told to expense the rest on your income tax. That doesn’t even cover gas. Terrible for those who travel for the job. No opportunities for advancement.

Pleasant, yet challenging place to work

It can be stressful, yet it is a pleasant place to work that is challenging and helping me grow in this field. I assist with a variety of different projects in the company, identify and document project requirements, involved with the vendor selcection process, RFP and RFI's, schedule and facilitate meetings, scribe and distribute meeting notes, maintain backlogs, work with various departments in the company, participate in sprint meetings, and more. Great department and place to work.

Productive with fun activities to do on the side

The culture was very friendly and relaxed. The work was very interesting and challenging. There were always fun things to do with your coworkers. The experience could not have been any better. I love this company and would work for them again in a heartbeat.

love the Preferred Family!!

I absolutely love our Preferred Family! Especially during these difficult times with the coronavirus. Preferred has been going above and beyond for us employees and I am not only speaking for myself but for all of the employees at Preferred! We feel appreciated, recognized, and most of all cared about. We have been well informed by our CEO, leadership team and Corporate Communications. The company provided every employee a $50 gift card and now a $25 gift card to Dunkin to help us through these crazy times. Preferred puts their employees first! Love this company to pieces and love our PREFERRED family!!

Supportive Leadership and Great Team Atmosphere

PMIC is a great company to work for, the culture here is very friendly and engaging. You can't walk down the hall without saying hello to everyone you run into. There are many different fun events that take place to include employees such as the Tailgating Luncheon the Thursday before the Super Bowl. Overall this company is very engaging and focuses on their customers and employees.

Best company I have ever worked!

Just like the title of this review, this has been the best company that I have ever worked at! I have worked for organizations where I've had no flexibility, no options for remote work, where my time was monitored minute by minute, where it was very top heavy, no trust, no support, no advancement opportunities, no bonuses, no pay increases, the list could go on. Here at Preferred Mutual we have so many options to have flexibility in our work schedule, remote opportunities, and everything to having fun at work! Best place I have ever worked. Wonderful people supportive environment, great benefits, retirement, compensation, and advancement opportunities!

Really fun and collaborative work environment!

Insurance is more than claims, and I think there are a lot of ways a professional in any industry can transition to insurance without insurance experience!! Preferred Mutual allows for that transition, and encourages professionals from diverse backgrounds! Preferred Mutual is unique. A lot of companies claim they promote a balanced work/personal life...But Preferred ensures it. I work remotely about 125 miles away from headquarters, and always feel 100% involved in every meeting, every event! I also believe that employees have a lot more say in the way of the work day at Preferred Mutual. It is a very flexible week, plenty of personal time off, too!

Excellent and Enjoyable Place to Work!

Could not be more excited to have joined a company that cares for their employees and the community it serves. Benefits and compensation are excellent compared to local competitors. The people here are supportive, caring and genuine which shows in their everyday interactions, meetings, company events, etc. The events that this company puts on for the employees is outstanding! I have never been with a company that does so much to show their appreciation to the employees. Events include the harvest dinner, holiday dinner, Santa comes to PMIC, gingerbread house contest, go pink pumpkin contest, the annual employee lunch-in, the annual employee recognition lunch, to the giveaways like tickets to football games, basketball games, hockey games, paid day-off giveaways, and so much more. I really enjoy working here and look forward coming to work everyday.

Wonderful Organization to work for!

I have been working for Preferred Mutual for almost a year. I am so happy that I made the switch to Preferred. The flexibility of our work schedule, the opportunity to work remotely, the benefits, onsite gym, the generous vacation package, opportunities for growth, retirement, pension, seriously the list goes on, is outstanding! In our area, you cannot find companies like this anymore. To have the stability, the support, and the team and family oriented environment is something we pride ourselves in as a company.

Not the place it used to be

Went from being a very team oriented pleasant work environment to an ultra competitive, "watch your back" corporate mess. Managers were no better, and encouraged this among the employees.

A Lesson Learned

I would take great caution accepting a position at this organization. Outdated, single minded environment. "Mean girls club"....toxic. A middle school classroom comes to mind when I think of the work atmosphere. Processes are broken and set up for failure. Located in a rural area where many feel they have no other option....this unfortunately leads to abusive management. Emotional abuse is never ok.

Preferred mutual

Although no longer an employee, I had a great experience working at Preferred Mutual. They allow employees to work remotely, which is huge benefit, especially since their headquarters are in remote area difficult to get to.

Not very innovative or entrepreneurial. Top-down style.

The company has a top-down culture where individual initiative is not highly valued. Management's view of the competitive marketplace is narrow and somewhat naive - this may/will lead to difficulties in the future and makes them vulnerable to competitive attack. The company will find geographic expansion very difficult, having been focused on a single state for many, many years.
