Paula L. Feroleto
Paula L. Feroleto (Democratic Party) is a judge of the New York Supreme Court 8th Judicial District. Her current term ends on December 31, 2026.
Feroleto (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for judge of the New York Supreme Court 8th Judicial District. She won in the general election on November 6, 2018.
Feroleto also ran in the 2018 election as a Republican and Conservative Party candidate. Feroleto is the District Administrative Judge for the 8th Judicial District of New York which has jurisdiction in the counties of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming. She has served in this position since 2009. She has also served on the Erie County Supreme Court since 2005.[1][2]
Education
Feroleto received her B.S. degree from Georgetown University in 1978 and her J.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1982.[2]
Career
Feroleto worked as an associate and partner of Brown & Kelly LLP from 1983 to 2004. She was elected to the Supreme Court in 2005 and became an Administrative Judge in 2009.[2]

Selection method

The 324 justices of the New York Supreme Court are elected to 14-year terms in partisan elections. To appear on the ballot, candidates must be chosen at partisan nominating conventions. Sitting judges wishing to serve an additional term must run for re-election.[3]
The chief judge of the court of appeals appoints two chief administrative judges of the supreme court, one to supervise trial courts within New York City and one to supervise trial courts outside of the city.[3]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must:[3]
- be a state resident;
- have had at least 10 years of in-state law practice;
- be at least 18 years old; and
- be under the age of 70 (retirement at 70 is mandatory).
