Nationwide Advantage Mortgage
Loss Mitigation Underwriter (Former Employee) - Des Moines, IA - August 23, 2018
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI had to leave this job when the mortgage side closed down permanently. It was a good place to work culturally but the pay was less than desireable. This was a small section of the overall company and we all worked together to accomplish goals.
Pros
Free parking, 401K match, Cafeteria in the building, Free Gym.
Cons
Pay, lack of advancement opportunities.

Mortgage Processing
Manager loan processing Operations (Current Employee) - Des Moines, IA - April 13, 2015
Review pipelines every morning with the processing staff. Determine what kind of volume they could handle in today's work. My management style is to make my staff be accountable for their mistakes but then make them learn from it. My job is very stressful due to the fact that we haveto get loans processed and closed so it doesn't impact the customer. What is enjoyable about the Mortgage industry is the fact that you're helping customers get inot their new homes or allowing them to get better rates.
Pros
Great Company
Cons
Stress

Great Coworkers
Analyst (Former Employee) - Des Moines, IA - January 19, 2015
MER analyst handled transactions between Nationwide Advantage Mortgage Company and MERS. It is a really simple and easy job with out any real challenge. It's not a bad job if you can do the same thing over and over without any real change or challenge.
Pros
Job Stability, No holidays or Weekens
Cons
Tedious repetative job

Goal Orientated Company
Post-Closing Representative (Current Employee) - Des Moines, IA - November 23, 2014
Daily handle internal requests for Original Documents. Contact various Document Custodians to request the shipment of the documents needed. Track requests in Access Database. Maintain filling system of documents. Conduct necessary data research to establish new Custodian Contacts or to resolve an issue with a missing document.
I have learned how to plan, be organized, research, be an effective communicator (written and verbal), and how to facilitate change.
Management is very helpful in providing me with the ability to be creative and facilitate change however, they are very disconnected from the project and all that it entails.
Co-workers can be helpful in providing assistance to projects in unique ways that they can contribute. They can also be very competitive and gossip.
The hardest part of my job is researching a new Custodian Contact or finding a missing document. There are numerous places to research and none guarantee that the desired result will be found.
The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to be creative with my approach to organizing the data and files. As well as being in communications with Custodians.
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
Not ideal job culture

If you like phones, not a problem
Loan Officer (Former Employee) - Des Moines, IA - April 22, 2014
With Nationwide I spent a few years there. I had a good time with the people who I worked with and for but I didn't really like being attached to a phone all of the time. There are of course different jobs within Nationwide and depends on which location, but my was a mortgage agent and when the big refinance boom hit, that kept us busy. I would go to work everyday at my desk and in between calls talk to the people who were around me. I would answer calls when they came across and see if I could help someone out by getting them approved for a mortgage. A lot of information and a lot of questions but it was nice to be able to help people out by either letting them know how they could fix something on the credit report, letting them know what was on their credit report, or letting them know what they could get approved for with the mortgage info they had provided. Sometimes the hardest part was waiting for another call, talking to some people who called or watching the consolidation that was done while I was there.
Pros
people
Cons
phones
