'John Carter Of Mars' Trailer Seeks to Impress, And Succeeds

Disney aired the first extended trailer for the upcoming sci-fi action movie John Carter, based on the John Carter of Mars character and novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

So, here it is, the new trailer for John Carter -- and I must say, whoever put this trailer together did a pretty great job, the title sequence and layout is really excellent...

There's been a lot of uncertainty about the film, due to its estimated $250 million budget and some trepidation among longtime fans of the book series. However, this trailer makes it obvious that audience will see every single penny of the budget, with incredible effects and having built an entire new world on screen.

Considering the worldwide box office audience and the potential comparisons to Avatar (there are some scenes that definitely remind one of that previous film), my guess is that Disney has a hit on its hands and a new popular franchise.
