Obituary in The Times and Democrat, Orangeburg, SC, 8 Oct 2002: Denmark - Leroy Bruner Sr., 91, of Denmark, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Bamberg Nursing Center. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Bamberg Pentecostal Holiness Church, Bamberg, with the Rev. Michael Price and the Rev. John Carter officiating. Burial will be in Denmark Cemetery. Mr. Bruner was born in Georgia, a son of the late Ellison and Kitty Chavis Bruner. He was a member of Bamberg Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was retired from Bamberg Textile Mills. He was married to the late Emma Shirey Bruner. Survivors include sons, Leroy Bruner Jr. of Cordova, Floyd Bruner of Denmark; daughters, Betty Baxley of Summerville and Peggy Gleaton of Denmark; sisters, Susie Hoover and Grace Diamond of Neeses; a brother, J.E. Bruner of Neeses; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Bamberg Pentecostal Holiness Church, Building Fund, Pentecostal Street, Bamberg, SC 29003. Mercer Funeral Home of Denmark is in charge of arrangements.
