PawPaw,
I hate that you had to suffer for anytime and I thank God you are not suffering anymore. One day we will see each other again. I appreciate your kindness and your sweet way of calling me "Nik-Nik". You always gave me the "Nikki" special when I came to the store which was often a few dollars or free. That was very kind of you. I'm glad I was able to tell you I love you and kiss you good-bye. Until...Your Grand-daughter Nikki

Mr. Cockrell gave you me my first hair cut, I didn't want to sit still, he spanked my bottom and told my mother to leave, He said "I would be ok". He didn't have any problem out of me from then on. I used to play chess at the Shop on Hoover growing up and he would always bet on me. I made him a few extra dollars. He was a real nice guy and if young people want a roll model, I would recommend Mr.Cockrell.
My deepest sympathies go out to his family. He will be missed.

John Cockrell will be truly missed by our family. John was the younger brother of my grandfather Jimmie Cockrell who preceeded him in death in 1994. Uncle John was always very kind to my sisters and my self every time he visited the family in Detroit. My prayers go out to Aunt Mamie and their children in their time of sorrow. Sincerely Karen Durrant.
