The Jefferson County Metropolitan Corrections is a low-security detention center located at 400 S. 6th St Louisville, KY which is operated locally by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Jefferson County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, Louisville Police Department, and the US Marshal's Service.

The ONLY money orders accepted are those
from the United States Postal Service no other type of money order will be accepted.


You may deposit funds in one of three ways:

1. Money can be posted to an inmate’s account using the Kiosks 24-hours, 7 days a week. Immediate facility notification of all payments when using:

  • Hall of Justice 600 W. Jefferson St, Louisville, KY 40202. (1st Fl lobby and Basement lobby.)* (No Money orders or checks are accepted by the Kiosk)

· Credit Card Machine: Available to inmates at booking in the Intake Room at the Jail.

This new system will be in addition to the existing money order program which will remain in place

3. Hand-deliver to Liberty Street exit lobby of the main jail.

Money orders should be made out to MCIF (Metro Corrections
Inmate Fund) and must have the inmate’s name and CIN #.
An inmate’s CIN # may be obtained by calling 1-800-511-1670.

Money orders may take up to four (4) business days to be credited to inmate
accounts​.

Money Order Payment Information

A money order must be filled out properly to be accepted. Make the money order payable to: Metro Corrections Inmate Fund (MCIF) with the inmate’s name and CIN Number written in the memo section of the money order.

USPS Money orders can be dropped off at the Exit Lobby on the Liberty Street side of Louisville Metro Monday – Friday, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The office will be closed on Metro Holidays.

Visitation Information

Visitation is held at the

General Population-Sign up anytime between 7:30 AM-10:15 AM and 4:30 PM-9:15 PM.

Special Management Visitors-Inform the Technician at the window, so that you can be signed up.

Visitors should call the day before coming to ensure that inmate status has not changed.

In accordance with LMDC Inmate Visitation Policy 05-3.01:

Persons sixteen (16) years of age or older shall present a valid photo ID before visitation can be granted”.

**Please Be Patient While Waiting For Your Visit**

· Visits are based on a first come, first serve basis and will be conducted as close to the schedule as possible. Due to time constraints, visitation signups will continue until the visit roster is full for the session. The Visit Technicians are unaware of the exact time that your visit will begin, as they have no control over the activities within the security perimeter. If you choose to leave and return after signing up to visit, your visit may be cancelled and you will have to return during the next scheduled visitation session.

· Visits are subject to cancellation at the discretion of the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and/or violation of any visitation rules.

· Visitors must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the conclusion of each visitation period (depending on visiting space)

· Inmates are allowed one (1) 20 minute visit per scheduled day. One adult or one adult and one child (under age 18) or 2 adults may visit per visitation session.

· One extended visit of 40 minutes will be permitted every seven days for those visitors traveling more than 100 miles (one way) to Louisville, KY. You must have two forms of identification (1 valid pictured government-issued ID and a piece of mail dated within the last 30 days or a departing bus or flight ticket) as proof of your out-of-state status. Please arrive early and on the scheduled visiting day, if possible, to accommodate an extended visit.

Visitation is only allowed after arraignment, classification and housing unit assignment of the inmate. Please obtain the inmate's CIN # prior to visitation. To find out what that is, call 1-800-511-1670.
