Hi all, this is my first time posting, but I've been a long-time lurker. I recently came across a possible match I wanted ya'll to take a look at and get your opinion on.
I've dubbed her the Louisiana I-10 Jane Doe, as she was last seen at a truck stop off 1-10 in Henderson, LA. While trying to hitch a ride she was presumably struck by a car and left to die. Our Jane Doe was discovered only hours after her death on December 5, 1981.
According to the Doe Network she was presumed to be French speaking due to her clothing and "other things"; however, I'm not sure how they could have determined this as the clothing listed as found with her body does not strike me as particularly French. She had 2 pairs of Wrangler jeans and some Sears items; a Gelmart bra (which from a quick check I believe was sold at Wal-mart); Pro Wings tennis shoes (which were sold at Payless), and a cowboy style shirt.
She was also found with a bag from a store from Port Arthur, TX. which leads me to my possible match: Kathryn Elizabeth Collins
Kathryn went missing from Port Lavaca, TX on April 1, 1981, when her car was found abandoned there. There was no sign of her at the scene and there is no further information regarding her disappearance.
There is a direct path from Port Lavaca, TX (where Kathryn went missing) to Port Arthur, TX (where our Jane Doe had a bag) to Henderson/Martinville, LA (where our Jane Doe was found). Kathryn had a surgical scar from a hernia operation; our Jane Doe had a surgical scar on her abdomen. I think the western-type clothing (wranglers and a cowboy shirt) would make sense coming from TX. I also think the photos look quite similar. They exhumed LA 1-10 Jane Doe in 2006 for DNA testing, but I do not know if anything came from it.
