James Shipman
November 25, 1985 – August 16, 2013

James Andrew Shipman, 27, Gladstone, MO, passed away August 16, 2013 at North Kansas City Hospital. Funeral services are 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 21st at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a visitation will begin at 12 Noon; burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions suggested to The Wounded Warriors Project.
James was born November 25, 1985 in El Dorado, KS. A life-long area resident, James was a 2004 graduate of North Kansas City High School and attended Park University. He was a certified ATA Martial Arts Instructor teaching many in the Liberty, Gladstone, MO and Leavenworth, KS areas. He was a member of the Missouri Army National Guard. He served as captain of the Civil War First Missouri Calvary Dismounted. James was employed as a security guard and was of the Mormon faith. James was preceded in death by grandparents, Donald Shipman and John and Dorothy Bohannan, and great grandmother, Serena Lanz. Following death he continues to give to others by being an organ donor.
Survivors include his parents, Ronald and Rosemary Shipman; birthmother, Chrissy Jamrock; sister, Angela Douglas and husband, Bryan; grandparents, Nellie Shipman, Serena Leiser and A.J. and Barbara Burns; godparents, Chris Blasco and Susan Hendricks; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
