Biography:
Dr. Caplan has been with Hamilton Cardiology Associates for over fifteen years. He has been in the Trenton area for over 25 years and was the first Cardiac Electrophysiologist to the area. Dr. Caplan has extensive experience and expertise in cardiac device management; the implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators and biventricular devices for resynchronization therapy;. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases through the ABIM and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology through the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons.
After completing an Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiovascular Diseases Fellowship at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, Dr. Caplan completed a Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. It was during this time that Dr. Caplan was a Major in the United States Air Force Reserves. He served as a Flight Surgeon and spent three months active duty during Desert Storm.
Dr. John L. Caplan was the Medical Director of the Electrophysiology Laboratory at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ for approximately 15 years. In addition, he is the former Director and Vice Chairman, Department of Cardiology, former Chairman, Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, former Member-at-Large of the Department of Cardiology and served on the Credentials Committee at St. Francis Medical Center.
Dr. Caplan is on staff at Robert Wood Johnson at Hamilton, Capital Health System at Regional/Hopewell, Deborah Heart and Lung Center and St. Mary Medical Center. He is currently the Cardiology Member-at-Large, serving on the Medical Executive Committee at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
