Isaac was a son of Daniel & Elizabeth Nigh Peters. On Dec. 24, 1829, he married Sarah Hammel, with whom he had 10 children: Michael Peters, Louisa Shupe, Mary Hoover, Lavina Pilcher, Sarah Perkins, Catherine Miller, David Peters, Nancy Eberhart, Margaret Shannon and Daniel Peters. They moved from Clear Creek Township in Fairfield County, Ohio to Fayette County, Illinois in the 1850s, along with other members of the Peters and Hammel families.
