Mr. Harvey Farha, 90, of Quincy, died at 9:08 a.m. Saturday (April 9, 2011) in Blessing Hospital.

Born April 24, 1920, in Quincy, Harvey was a son of Michael L. and Monera Hedba Farha. He married Shirley Mae Bycroft on March 28, 1955, in Roseville, Ill. She preceded him in death on July 27, 2008.

Mr. Farha was a 1938 graduate of Quincy High School and 1942 graduate of Quincy College. He served his country in U.S. Navy during WW II. Following his discharge, he attended Northwestern University for graduate studies.

Mr. Farha joined his family business, Farha Dry Goods, at 10th and Cherry around 1950. The business later became Farha Uniform, which he owned and operated until its closing in 2001.

A member of Faith Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder for many years, Harvey was also active with the Salvation Army, Full Gospel Businessmen, YMCA Male Chorus, Boy Scouts of America, and for many years he sponsored and coached Midget League Baseball.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Farha of Quincy and Mike Farha and his wife, Jeanne, of Quincy; four grandchildren, Sarah Farha, Michael Farha, Aaron Farha and Matthew Farha all of Quincy; a sister, Ruth Samra of Saginaw, Minn.; a brother-in-law, William Bycroft; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Farha was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred M. Farha and Lawrence Farha; four sisters, Amelia Pappas, Louise Farha, Selma Batal and Edna Batal; five brothers-in-law, Emil Samra, Phillip Pappas, Sam Batal, Thomas Batal and Clarence Bycroft Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bycroft.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Faith Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Rod Bakker and Rev. Lindy Sloan conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday in the church.

MEMORIALS: Quincy Neighborhood Federation or Faith Presbyterian Church.
