We went for 2 nights to see the fall foliage in the area. We had a great time. We have been several times before through the years and always stayed in the lodge. This time we rented one of the lakeside cabins (the last available), and even though we were not next to the lake we still enjoyed our stay. A couple of the cabins are not on the water, and one is pet friendly. That is the one we stayed in, but didn’t bring a pet. The cabin was clean and very spacious. The deck was covered in leaves but it is that time of year. I could not find any photos on the state park website of the lakeside cabins really. So I wanted to put some on Trip Advisor. We would definitely stay in a cabin again, I would just try to book early enough to get one on the water next time, but the view of the woods was beautiful also. We did have to buy ice trays to have ice, and there is absolutely no WiFi service. The park is gorgeous and we saw lots of deer. We also went to Buck’s Pocket State Park and the view from the lookout there is awesome. We only ate once at the lodge dining room, for lunch on Saturday and it was okay. It was buffet style and not many options. We could not order off the menu at that time. I think all meals there are buffet style now, but I could be wrong. We drove to Guntersville for all our other meals and ate at the Huddle House, The Rock House Eatery and Top O The River.

The water was still with a little breeze. The fishing was slow. The weather was perfect. Loved every minute on the water and the views.

Be sure to bring your linens (sheets, towels, etc). Check-in process was a breeze. Having the laundry in the bathhouse across the small road was a nice surprise. We ate breakfast up at the lodge on the morning we left and it was good. We enjoyed fishing off the pier.

This museum is located in an older area of Lake Guntersville but is easy enough to locate and it has adequate parking. We were greeted at the door and told information about the building and the exhibits. Of special interest is the floor map of the Tennessee River and the many dams built to control flooding and it provide electricity. There is also a booth where you can sit and watch videos of various people who relate stories about the area.

We love this event. Crafter's all making the items that they love. We picked up some beautiful art work at the event. They also have a bake sale and live music. Great way to spend a day.

Wyndham Garden hotel in Guntersville was an excellent place to stay. First thing, the ladies at the front desk were so nice, helpful, checked me in promptly, provided information for tourist stuff and made the visit very enjoyable. I will return. Rooms have been upgraded and were extremely nice. Free breakfast included. Hotel is on Lake Guntersville, with pier fishing.

We weren't expecting much from a small community theater but were pleasantly surprised. A production of 'Guys and Dolls' was presented skillfully. Music and dancing were wonderful. Definitely planning a trip back to the theater.

Sitting on the back deck but the fire checking emails at a corporate retreat. The facility is wonderful as well as the staff. We have had a great time and look forward to returning. While some may view the ranch as a "hunting lodge" it is a hidden gem for a corporate retreat. All amenities onsite and the relaxed atmosphere is just right.

Years ago, I stayed at the Town Creek campground probably 50+ times (almost every weekend for a couple of years) - lots of trees, and just a comfortable place to camp. But now, since the tornado hit a couple of years ago, there's NO shade. The campground has dwindled to nothing - it's a sad place to be.

The fishing center building was nice and cold though, and the service was great. We wanted to rent a 14' bass boat, but none of the bass boats in any size was available (some were being repaired.) So the young man working the counter worked out another deal for us on a pontoon boat for a couple of hours. It got us out on the lake, which is what we wanted, so that was good. The boat was in great shape - although the fuel gauge didn't work.

We'll probably rent boats from them again, but we'll wait a few years to see if the new trees will provide some desperately needed shade.

This is a free (donations accepted) collection of planes--restored and still flyable. Very friendly folks there will spend as much time as you like sharing the history of each one. You can also arrange for a flight over the lake if you are feeling adventurous.

Looking for a challenging golf course, somewhat off the beaten path? Gunter’s Landing is located on the Southernmost point of the Tennessee River, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, near the city of Guntersville, AL. Guntersville sits at an elevation of about 600 feet above sea level and is nestled on the shores of Lake Guntersville, Alabama’s largest lake with 69,000 acres of sparkling clean water and over 900 miles of coastline.

Gunter’s Landing is a parkland-style golf course, with plenty of doglegs and tree-lined holes, rolling fairways, and extreme elevations. You’ll also have some incredible views of Lake Guntersville as you play the course on Bermuda fairways and Tiff Eagle greens. The course was designed by Jimmy Kennamer and opened for play in 1991. Each hole has 4 sets of tees so you can easily find a distance that suits your game. Gunther’s Landing plays 6,863 yards from the back tees with a par of 72. The course rating is 73.2 with a slope of 137. I found the Blue Tees (6,419/71.1/132) to be very challenging and still let me leave with a little dignity. Most of the Ladies typically play from the Red Tees (5,259/65.9/122).

Time your visit just right and you may spot a bald eagle. One of the largest American Bald Eagle nesting sites in the Southern United States is located directly across the lake from Gunter’s Landing. Bald eagles spend the winter months in and around Gunter’s Landing, soaring the skies, fishing the reservoir, and roosting in the tall pines along the mountain tops.

Gunter’s Landing has some pretty incredible practice facilities including a putting green and a 3-tier driving range. There’s also a nine-acre short game area located in the area below the pool where golfers can work on all aspects of their game. Want more practice? There’s a two-hole facility which is the perfect place for all levels of players to fine-tune tee shots, approach shots, and putts. Head Golf Professional Stephen Worthy was named PGA Merchandiser of the Year for 2021. And it’s easy to see why. In addition to great deals on logoed apparel, Stephen’s professional and courteous staff can help with all your golf equipment needs as well as something not many golf shops offer these days: club repair!

Should your golf swing need a little fine-tuning, The Steven DeBoer Golf Academy - located on the left side of the practice range - can handle all your golf instruction needs from equipment fittings and recommendations to digital video instruction. It’s a full-scale practice facility with a driving range, putting green, chipping green, and sand bunker that can be used year-round regardless of weather conditions.

If you’re looking for a place to stay on your trip to Gunter’s Landing, check out Kudzu Cove Cabins. Kudzu Cove is located on the Northside of Buck Island on over 80 acres and adjoins almost 350 acres of pristine State Park woodlands just minutes from Gunters Landing. This eclectic little cabin community has five unique cabins that can accommodate two to sixteen people. The Golfer’s Cabin can easily accommodate a foursome. All cabins include fully stocked linens, kitchen supplies, a charcoal grill, and decks or balconies. Power hook-ups and connections for hoses are available at each cabin. Plans for Kudzu Cove Cabins include more cabins, a pavilion for reunions and weddings, more groomed and primitive hiking/biking trails, and boater's lodges. Golfers who book a Kudzu Cove cabin for a week or longer can get a discount on golf at Gunter’s Landing.

If you live in the area – or visit it a lot- Gunter’s Landing offers a variety of membership programs. Give them a call or stop by and talk to Stephen Worthy!

For more information on membership or booking your next round or event at Gunter’s Landing, give them a call at (256) 582-3000 or visit them online.
