Worst customer service ever. It's literally impossible to do a same day transfer here unless you withdraw cash from one account and go to a branch and deposit the cash with a teller. I had to try for two weeks to close an account but no one would call me back. I called corporate, I called the local branch, I messaged through the app. No one would help me close my account all the while racking up $500+ NSFs despite constantly trying to even wire money to get funds in there quicker. Ive been out of town and couldn't make a physical deposit. So I kept transferring and wiring money into the account to play catch up enough for me to close my account but my transfers and wires were delayed just long enough to literally miss withdrawals by hours so they could charge fees for that. They had to call corporate to find out why my wire was delayed, but of course all they could say is they didn't know and they could refund me the NSFs if it was a bank error but apparently a wire delay on their end isn't a bank error neither is no one contacting me during my two weeks of attempts so that I could close my account. They refused to freeze my account. I had to wait until I could physically go to the bank to make them close my account.
Worst experience I've ever had with a financial institution.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Abby H.San Francisco, CA2134Apr 25, 2023
Absolute worst bank to do business with. They closed my account simply because I was out of the country and had a relative conduct my business while away. Also, specifically Diane Brehm from the Mandeville branch is incredibly rude and awful to deal with, she was impatient, curt, and slightly aggressive towards me. Truly 0/5 hospitality.

I've been going to Gulf Coast off/on since 1984. Today I brought a State Farm check made out to me and my wife. We have separate banking accounts. Had her endorse the check brought copy of her DL. Would not deposit in my checking. "must verify her in person." I called and gave them a good piece of my mind! We have to be inconvenienced. My wife works 1 hr away and will have to leave work early.
I told the representative that I have seen people that don't speak English and NO ID do transactions. She said I was mistaken. Implied I was a racist and didn't like my attitude or tone. I must wait 6-8 hrs to conduct the business I needed to do by depositing the check. It seems some rules and laws don't apply the same to everyone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dave R.Plano, TX012Feb 28, 2023
These people are horrible to work with. You definitely do not want to factor invoices with them. Take care of business elsewhere.

I was a very good customer of this bank for years. I was very happy with them but this is not the case anymore. Lots of drama and misinformation from this bank. I would not recommend them. I have reported them to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, CFPB. Very disgusted and angry with Gulf Coast Bank.

I absolutely love Gulf Coast Bank, and for so many reasons. The main reason is that the customer service is so strong that I can't even imagine there's another a bank that comes close.
As much as I love Gulf Coast - and it's a whole lot - this branch's drive thru isn't my favorite. All other aspects of this branch are top notch with the exception of the drive thru. As long as I use the lobby, things work so well. There seems to be a little bit of a lag when you drive up. It may just be that the tellers work with lobby customers first.
No matter the issue, I'll continue to use Gulf Coast.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Gisselle S.Tamarac, FL01Apr 23, 2022
Tricia Hoffman at Gulf Coast does not know what she is doing. She was extremely unhelpful, was hard to get a hold of, and tells you no without even considering the business profit. She does not know what she is doing and is extremely unprofessional. I do not recommend these people at all.

I've heard that getting a mortgage through ANY bank leaves a lot to be desired, but do they all do arbitrary things like *prevent* your seller from covering the closing costs as agreed upon in your initial contract? Enter Gulf Coast Bank.
Before this travesty, there were also the various dealings with them where they didn't even check their fax machine for the documents they demand, I knew that come hell or high water, I'd never recommend this bank to anyone.
Then there was the estimate being so grossly different from the final HUD. I got an apology from the main loan officer, Joe Uzee. That didn't help much, but he's a pretty smooth talker (aren't they all?)
And finally, they waited until closing to
1. Not show up.
BUT... in their paperwork, they saw fit to
2. Not allow my seller to cover closing costs (did allow a percentage). It would have been nice if they had told me this AT ANY POINT during our 2 month time period of getting this mortgage in place.
Not surprising that they didn't show up to closing, is it? I think everyone's mouth in the room was hanging open at that point. When I contacted Joe to ask about this, he emailed me that he would get back to me and surprise, surprise, never did. I was so aggravated that I did my own research and saw that some banks do prevent sellers from covering entire closing fees due to their fear of stuff going on under the table. I really don't care. It's shady as F$#%.
I do have Gulf Coast to thank for one thing: I'll be better prepared next time to ask questions up front.
And if at all possible, buy a house in cash rather than go through a damned bank. They all are nightmares to deal with and when you consider how much money they make in the end, it's enough to make you consider renting for the rest of your life.Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Kristen W.New Orleans, LA3671Dec 9, 2016
We got our mortgage through Gulf Coast and the whole experience was terrible. We were first time home-buyers and they offered no guidance through the process.
The day before closing we found out that they weren't using close to $1000 in seller credits and we had it written in to our purchase agreement that the price of the home would be lowered in the event of unused credits. Their solution was "work it out with the seller and have him write you a check". We got it all worked out with the title company but still.
The loan processor was incompetent and was impossible to reach. She would send us emails filled with errors (factual, spelling and grammatical) and whenever we corrected her on something she would just respond with "yes, that's correct" like she was trying to gaslight us or something. She'd send us emails asking us why we haven't done something yet when we were never told to do it in the first place (and not stuff that we would know to do, like have a conference call with some other woman about our loan)
They pushed back the closing date twice because *they* failed to get *their* paperwork done on time and we ended up with one day to move. We got a surprise phone call from the title company asking to set up the appointment for closing without the bank contacting us at all.
The day before closing we were given 5 different figures of what the cash required at closing would be, varying up to $1500.
And like Joi said, they don't come to closing.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael F.Baton Rouge, LA02Oct 27, 2020
I was referred to this bank by an mortgage loan agent and it has been nothing but a nightmare dealing with these people. They caused the closing to be delayed three times and cost everyone money and sanity. They keep asking for the same documents over and over. They actually gave all parties the okay to close an one hour before signing pulled out and said they needed more documentation. Avoid this place like the plague.
