I've been going to the Greenfield Plaza for years. Every since I discovered I could trade in old, broken jewelry toward something new, I've been hooked. The Greenfield Plaza houses a little bit of everything. Beauty salons, jewelry stores, barber shops, nail salons, boutiques and even cafes.
I frequently visit the third floor, which is were most of the jewelry stores are located. But I have been known to take a tour every now and again to see what new stores have popped up. The plaza is most crowded, of course, on the weekend. Not to the point were it's difficult to receive service but more so finding a close parking spot.
While I do visit the other shops I highly recommend you visit the jewelry stores if you have the opportunity. Because most of them are on the same floor the competition makes for some great deals!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Haynes I.Charter Township of Clinton, MI083Nov 11, 2019
The nastiest women's restroom that I have ever used! It was very unbearable from the smell to the appearance. This was very disappointing because the building itself it's overall very beneficial and great for the community.

Management apparently doesn't invest in the building repairs or structure. They do have a great number of independent shops including personal trainers, zumba, hair salons, jewelry, clothing and anything else you can think of. However just be for warned that the air may or may not work in some parts of the building. I went to shop at a boutique & liked to have died in the basement (shops are in the basement too) without any air. The plaza does have a daycare for parents to drop off their kids while they shop. It's roughly $5/hr & is another independent shop (pretty smart). Overall the place needs work, but has some good businesses located in it which is why I would go 2 stars. (I rate businesses separately as I visit them).

A friend/acquaintance of mine owns a boutique in here, which is the only reason I ever visit. I like the idea of this place - small independent businesses, all under one roof. But in practice? Ehhh....
The carpet is gross and the whole building has an overall dirty feel. The entrances of the building are plastered with dog eared signs and posters and littered with glossy postcards advertising any variety of nail, hair, or clothing shops. The elevator is painfully slow. There's a main listing of the names of all the shops and their location (floor & suite number) but the suite/store numbers are not very visible so you usually end up on the floor you need and just wandering around til you find the place you want.
Some of the shops in the Plaza include:
- nail shops
- salons/barbers
- many women's clothing boutiques (most have extremely similar inventory)
- jewelry boutiques
- tshirt & hat shops
- book/magazine shop
- personal trainers/fitness
- and a few other randoms
The idea is great. But the need to clean up the space. If you come in at certain hours later in the evening, all entrances are locked except for the front (which they don't post so you only find out once you've parked and walked up to the door to find it locked), and you'll be asked to sign in at the security desk. I appreciate this move at reducing crime, as I know they've had some instances of that in the past. But when I go down into the basement level, where my friend's boutique is located, not only are we all down there alone but there's not even cell service down there. Maybe a few strolling guards would help. Better lighting. Give the place a good scrub down from floor to ceiling. Simple steps that could improve the Plaza immensely.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nikki C.Detroit, MI13034824Oct 6, 2013
I go to the Greenfield Plaza for a specific boutique, but I do poke my head into some of the other boutiques.
The plaza itself is a maze. You're basically walking around in circles trying to find the place you're looking for... By the time you find it and go to leave, you now have to play "guess which door I parked near" just to find your car.
I wish there was more organization... but I guess it is what it is.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stacey R.Detroit, MI240Feb 3, 2012
This building is in shambles. I don't know who would lease a space in here. I've been here a few times and every time the conditions are worse than the last time. The hallways are dirty. None of the stores seem to be open during the week, the elevators have a terrible mildew/mold smell. The suite I usually visit has water stains on the ceiling tiles and the floors are squeaky and rickety. The building needs a lot of work and I feel bad for the small businesses that are leasing here. I wonder if the city knows how bad it is...
