Klent Jerick N gut wrenching... but great, kudos to the actress! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Russell H Very faithful to the book which is always good. Not as creepy as it could have been. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review Dan R One of Director Mike Flanagan's first interactions with the works of Stephen King was 2017's 'Gerald's Game's. SYNOPSIS: 'A couple tries to spice up their marriage in a remote lake house. After the husband dies unexpectedly, the wife is left handcuffed to their bed frame and must fight to survive and break free.' This film was probably the start of my love affair with any film or TV series created by, or directed by, Mike Flanagan. And looking back now the cast of 'Gerald's Game' will return over and over again within his works. The film itself is the perfect adaptation of King's work, and is delivered on a small scale with a compact cast all of whom deliver brilliant performances. Gugino carries the film as she slowly descends into madness and battles demons from her past. It's a film that proves that the demons we face in our lives can be physical and also come from the depths of our own subconscious. It's a film very much built around trauma and its effects on normal people. One of the best Stephen King adaptations around. 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review L W SHE DOES NOT "ACCIDENTALLY" kill her husband. He has a heart attack while she's handcuffed and can do nothing. I swear, who wrote the synopsis without watching THE LITERAL TRAILER THAT SHOWS IT! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review Peter J This film is truly amazing. Carla Gugino acts opposite herself and Bruce Greenwood for 90% of the film. Such a small cast and the film never lets up. It is filled with suspense, captivating dialogue, and a very moving and disturbing story. Carla is phenomenal as the lead - portraying every emotion under the sun while strapped to a bed. Though there is an incredibly gory scene, the film is a powerhouse of both character study and first rate acting. Highly recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/24 Full Review Audience Member Surface level entertainment here. Nothing deep or psychological. Dialogue was hardest part to listen to. Ending got interesting then totally flopped Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com Carla Gugino delivers one of the best performances of the year in a faithful adaptation from Mike Flanagan. Rated: A Nov 16, 2019 Full Review Nick Schager The Daily Beast Gerald's Game ultimately argues that monsters are real, and that they can only be defeated (or, at least, "minimized") through direct confrontation. Oct 5, 2017 Full Review Aja Romano Vox One of the best things about this movie is its smallness Oct 3, 2017 Full Review Joe Lipsett Anatomy of a Scream Podcast Network Flanagan's thrilling adaptation shouldn't work, but the director's style, plus Gugino and Greenwood's acting, is never less than captivating. The coda works better in hindsight, particularly when it's presented as Jessie's Good For Her moment. Rated: 4.5/5 Nov 2, 2022 Full Review Daniel Howat Next Best Picture The performances and writing are so strong that it's the atmosphere that scares you more than anything. Gerald's Game is a great, tense film that doesn't pander or belittle you. It'll make you squirm in all the best ways. Rated: 7/10 May 19, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Flanagan's direction is superb. Gerald's Game is a film that looks like it was storyboarded, and that those storyboards were followed in every detail. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 23, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews
