He provided me great legal service during a difficult situation. I appreciate that he could be assertive when needed, but that he was not aggressive. I did not hire other attorneys I consulted with, since they seemed to have an overtly aggressive attitude, which could drag out a case, costing much more money and taking a much longer time. Gavin is down to earth and caring, which I appreciated very much. I could trust that Gavin was giving me the best legal advice and outstanding service during a painful divorce. He made a stressful time a little less so, because I could have confidence in him. I highly recommend him to anyone needed a family divorce attorney.

Gavin Curtis demonstrates his legal expertise through researching the law, consulting with experts, presenting well written legal motions and drafting logical responses. His knowledge of court procedures was invaluable. I appreciate that I was consulted, advised of possible scenarios or results, and offered some choices in decision making. I had an abnormal divorce with an uncooperative individual. You were patient and firm, and very helpful through the entire process.

When I needed a sponsor for admission to the US District Court, Gavin was the first to offer to do that for me. He even agreed to meet on a Saturday, forfeiting quality family time, to take time for a fellow attorney. On a professional note, I have known Gavin throughout law school. He was always there for his colleagues, and always very courteous. Aside from his vast knowledge, he brings to his practice the human element, which is sometimes lacking in the legal field.

Gavin was amazing. He is flexible, was very helpful, facilitates timely communication, and truly helps to alleviate the stress that is associated with going back and forth to court. On a personal note, in over five years of a very highly contentious divorce, he helped to facilitate my greatest victory, ensuring that a just and fair decision was actually handed down. Quite frankly, I could not have done it without him. I, as well as my family, are forever thankful we had the opportunity to be represented by him. I would recommend him without any hesitation; in fact, I already have. For being relatively new to the family court realm, he stepped up in a major way and I could not be happier.

His billing was fair, however, he rarely answered any of my questions or comments. Anytime the opposing council had an issue with something that I already addressed, it was like new information to Gavin. As time went on, I felt he was trying to give everything the opposing council asked for and believed everything they were saying.

Hired Gavin, who was great and quick on the phone. On top of it to collect payment, then disappeared “for vacation” for three weeks. Did not get to meet with him to review my case before the hearing. I traveled across the country to obtain a document that was important for the judge, gave it to him two weeks before the case, he never gave it to her! He was standoffish in court! It’s almost as if he was afraid of the other attorney (I’ll admit she was a mean old lady) and the judge (a stern woman but friendly).. had his tail between his legs the whole time. After the hearing I asked him if he even cared about my case and he said as lawyers “you’re only paid to believe and help the client”. I said you’re done. Do whatever to get away from me and my case. I was cold in the water and didn’t have my son for a year because of his lackadaisical work ethic and inability to converse with female leaders. Go back on vacation and stop practicing law you’re ruining people’s lives. Literally.

Hired this weirdo for a divorce case last year, and his tactics and strategies are very novice and child like. He allows his pride to get in the way of his oath as an attorney. Says he is busy all of the time. Maybe he should go back to being an Optometrist, so he can see that he isn't cut to be in law.

We hired Mr. Curtis to represent our family in a modification of parenting time & enforcement case, where we felt our son’s long- term well-being was in serious risk with the other parent, due to their inattentiveness and their callous attitude towards right and wrong. There were genuine concerns, as he did not want to go anymore with my ex-spouse (my son being 17). However, after thoroughly explaining our case, what we wanted (modification and child interview), the strengths of it, and our available legal options, he still went AGAINST our wishes and did not do what we asked. After using his services for modification, 2 court appearances where he asked about five questions, he dragged his feet and did not submit the paperwork to change attorneys (even after a voice to voice). The new attorney we did get, was able to, in the end to get exactly what WE HAD ASKED and then some. Mr. Curtis is personable, but his court performance and his strategy was well below sub par and we would not recommend him. With about five years’ experience, you can find other attorneys with more experience and better courtroom strategy. We spent close to $3000 and pretty much got no results from him. His pleasant demeanor aside, we feel Mr. Curtis did not take our case seriously and his strategy was flawed because he was not listening to us; he was dismissive of our concerns and the paperwork and did not take advantage of other legal options, which would have greatly helped our case and avoid unnecessary costs. We are happy now, since our son is in mine and my spouse’s care. In summation: nice person, likable attorney, but not experienced enough, a bit dismissive, and lacked a good strategy because of not listening to client. Thank you.
