This place is basically a throwback to when in-room smoking was the norm. As an ex-smoker, the odor of stale nicotine was instantly recognizable and permeates the place despite the attempt to update cosmetics. When we got home our clothes and duffles required a washing to get rid of the smell. The fridge was straight out of the 60’s. No cups. No soap or shampoo. No drain plug in cracked sink. No in-room coffee service. Yellowed linens supplied miserly. Bed mattress was tired musty and lumpy with poor support from age. Same for the pillows. There was a sofa bed but it was completely broken down. Thin walls transmit sound from parked vehicles. Ice machine on ground floor was broken. Staff friendly but not particularly responsive.

We were here only for an overnight after a Grand Ole Oprah performance. If we weren’t so tired and it wasn’t so late when we got back we would have spent a little more to select from one of the many better choices in Clarksville.

We were traveling with a 26' camper and a small dog. The temp dropped and we need a hotel room for one night. We called around and this was the first hotel we found that would allow our dog. We had driven 11 hours and were very tired.
This hotel was disgusting. Dirty, very worn, wall paper peeling, furniture very old and scratched, towels looked gray, no security lock on the door. People outside our door talking loud. Seemed as if they were living there. We were very uneasy, and concerned about our camper in the parking lot.
At 4 am my husband woke up and saw cockroachs on the bathroom sink. We immediately left.
Avoid this hotel at all cost.

We recently came through Clarksville and had difficulty finding a room. We thought we lucked out when Gateway Inn and Suites had a few rooms available. I now know why. this was suppose to be a non smoking room but was definitely smoked in. It stunk of urine and after I rolled up one of the sleeping bags that was on the floor it stunk so bad we may never use it again. If it wasn't midnight and the whole family exhausted from traveling I would have never tried to sleep there. I laid in bed for at least an hour trying to breath it stunk that bad. Having to do it over I would have slept in my car.

I made the reservation last minute but the room was not worth the $80 I paid after taxes. It was supposed to be non-smoking but smelled very strongly of an old ashtray the minute we opened the door, I could have overlooked this if the rest of it wasn't so bad. The beds were extremely uncomfortable & the pillows were sad at best. There was mold in the shower, the mini-fridge was completely missing the icebox section but there was a block of ice on the back at the top of the fridge. The alarm clock wasn't plugged in, the little couch was thread bare with the foam showing through. The "free" breakfast from 6-9 was bran flakes, coffee, milk, & juice. We stayed at the Guest House Inn just the previous week for less in a room with double queens, just like this one, & had a much better experience & the breakfast could at least be called breakfast. I would not recommend Gateway Inn to anyone, this was a waste of money & absolutely not worth it. Save yourself the frustration & keep looking before staying here.

This hotel is cheap because it's awful. It was 2/3rds the price of surrounding hotels and it's still too high be $10. The carpet is stained, the toilet was covered in urine - dried and wet - the shower stall was dirty, there was hair in the tub, light bulbs were missing, etc. All this was in the SECOND room I was transferred to. The first one smelled of dog, pet urine, and carpet cleaner. I didn't make it 5 steps into that room. Why did I stay? I stayed because I was by myself and I only wanted to sleep. If I had wanted to brush my teeth, shower, sit on the sofa, hang out and relax in my room, eat the breakfast, use the sink, or anything else, I would not have stayed. If a cold freeze had not just come in, I would have slept in my car and been way less paranoid of mold, mildew, and incurable bacteria. This place is awful.

I was told that the Hotel was recently sold and that they had already made a lot of changes. The counter, and lobby looked nice, but all of the rooms have an outside entrance.
When we checked out, I asked if our room was scheduled to be remodeled, and it was.
There were also ladders and building materials outside of the room. The outside pool was closed, and it looks like they were working on things...
Ours was supposed to be a none smoking room, but it smelled, and the room was dumpy. Water stains on the celling, and the bathroom. The toilet was not severed very well, and soap dish in the shower was missing and a patch over the spot.
The television was very poor reception, but the Wi-Fi seems to work okay. And they did have an Ice machine.
The breakfast room was nicely decorated and very large, but the food was limited to two choices of cold cereal, milk, Juice, Coffee, and individually sealed pastry.
The stay was very cheap, but we should have paid more to stay in a better place. I do believe that once the rooms are remodeled, it could be a much nicer place.

I travel a lot. This is the first time I have checked in, then checked out to go somewhere else. I was willing to overlook the broken light switch that greeted me. The room was spacious and moderately clean. No wifi... Well OK. I'm tired. I can do without. Then I turned down the very old, thin sheets. Not only were they mildewed, there was crunchy bodily fluids on them. YUCK!!!
The lady at the desk had already offered another room because of the internet, which didn't work anywhere, so the bedding was the last straw. Back to the desk again. I was promptly refunded after explaining in detail what I found.
There are at least 2 other inexpensive options in this immediate area. Don't waste your time here.

Stayed at this hotel on a cross country road trip. We actually tried 2 other hotels before this one, but it was after midnight and they were full. We pulled into Gateway as a last resort, and really, it didn't look that bad from the outside. I will say that the girl who checked us in was helpful and nice.

The room smelled. The toilet had a disgusting looking "rust" ring around the base. The shower was filthy! The sheets had holes in them and we saw several stains. My son wouldn't even get underneath them and slept on top of the bed (with the bedspread pulled back). Needless to say, we didn't really sleep at all.

The "breakfast" was a container of some sort of raisin bran cereal. It looked like there might have been some coffee, but no sign of milk to put on the cereal. After the night we'd had and how disgusting the room was, we left and ate breakfast elsewhere.

This motel was cheap for sure, but not worth the terrible stay we had. I guess you get what you pay for but this is not a great property.

Let me start this review out by saying this was the most horrible experience i have had with a hotel since i have been traveling, and i have travled for a long time. When i firtst waked into the room it was smelly and did not have the word clean no where around. This hotel was so fility i cant even descirbe it in words but for anyone looking for as simple as a good night sleep this is not the place to go because you will be up all night thinking about is it clean. DON'T DO ITTHIS PLACE SHOULD BE FINED.
