Everett Donald Shields, age 87, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010 at his home in Sunny Brook Assistant Living.

A momorial service will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Fairfield, with Rev. Mike Metz and Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service in the church basement.

Private burial of cremains will be in Bethesda Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church of Iowa Hospice and snet to 3000 W. Madison Apt. 212 Fairfied, Ia 52556.

Everett was born October 30, 1922 in Highland Center to Orville and Elizabeth Mallard Shields. He married Lois Lansman 65 years ago on August 2, 1944 in Fairfield.

He graduated from Farson High School and attended Parsons College. He served in the military in the Navy during World War II.

Everett was a member of the First Methodist Church in Fairfield.

He worked at FALCO for 30 years. Everett enjoyed working with his hands. He loved woodworking, gardening and being with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, 1 son Ron (Deb) Shields of Cedar Rapids. 1 daughter Connie (Gordon) Cannoles of Arlington, Texas, 5 grandchildren, Allison Cannoles, Travis and Jenny Cabbikes Littlefield, Aaron and Lindsey Shields, Jill Cannoles and Brian Shields, 2 great grandchildren, Cooper and Kylie Littlefield, 1 nephew, Roger Elliott and 1 niece Barb Hendrickson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister Dorothy Elliott.
