Eduardo Avila, DMD - Sublime Smiles

Gotta love a doctor's office that runs pretty much on schedule (waited 15 minutes), and provides you with a decor that leaves you with ideas for your own home!

Don't be fooled by the promise that they can and will work with your family on scheduling. They promised they "understood" we had a child going out of state for college. Closed on Saturdays - except 1 a month. Closed every Friday, extended closures over holiday weekends, closed on Fridays -- and never willing to budge and find a way to work with us. Smiling the entire time they say "I understand how frustrated you must be" and doing nothing to help. This has added to the overall cost of the treatment as they have been unapolgetically unwilling to work with our family.

I can't say enough how pleased we are with Dr. Avila and his staff at the Rockville office. Dr. Avila is very friendly, as is his staff. Once you arrive, its only a few minutes until you are seen (no waiting past your appt time like most medical/dental offices). The atmosphere is fun, the office is clean and decorated nicely. Very happy our daughter likes going to her ortho appts. Will definitely recommend to others.

So I have always wanted straight teeth! you know like the ones that the movie stars have (minus the veneers lol) and for the past few years i have been working towards that. i knew that i would need braces due to the fact that i sucked my finger until i was 21(lol) and my wisdom teeth had caused my bottom teeth to cross. I was referred to Dr. Avila by my general dentist and so far so good. I was told that i had a limited case that would take around 14 months to complete. My insurance paid some and I paid the rest is on a payment plan. It took about 3 weeks from the time i was scanned to until i got my invisalign.

**the first day**
I came in very excited to get my treatment started ( i called off work, i was not sure how this would be) also i had just came from Cancun the day before. The initial appointment was 1 hour and a half. I ate before i went because i knew that it would be awhile before i ate again. I was not aware that i had to get attachments put on my teeth, so I went in thinking i would get my invisalign , they would show me how to put them on and life would go on. Boy was i wrong.

step 1- The dental assistant did a mild cleaning on my teeth with something that was extremely sour
step 2- attachments glued onto my teeth(feels like permanent plaque, the worst feeling ever)
step 3 - invisalign placed on for the first time.

After they were placed I was thinking "hey this is easy" but I remembered other reviews that I had read about the pain and my orthodontist told me the pain would kick in later and to take some Tylenol.
A year later, My teeth are almost where I want them, the office is great at setting and reminding of appointments, I always go during my lunch time and I am in and out in less than an hour and anything I need, they are always there. This has been the only time in my life I have felt confident about my dental process I love it here :-)

Dr. Avila is my Orthodontist since 2019. He got my teeth in shape to fit my small mouth with the
help of traditional braces. The reason I selected him among several specialists in my area are the
following:
1) A person's spirit gets reflected in his work environment. Dr. Avila has taken pains to
create an outdoor beach like atmosphere with the vastness and depth of the ocean. There
is a certain openness in his clinic with a friendly and informal staff to back him. The
office is so relaxing due to the interior holiday/outdoor décor that it's the first striking
difference you notice when you get here. I discovered that this way he keeps his
hometown close to his heart. It's like getting transported in space and time to another
place. Thus, he has created an office with a feel so beautiful that it gives the patients a
soothing experience to go there for their appointments without anxiety.
2) Then I found out that they accepted the discount plan I had enrolled in to lower my bills
as I did not have an insurance then. Most orthodontists did not acknowledge that they
were also enrolled in that discount plan. It really helped to pay for my treatment.
3) Some of his positive aspects are that he is very diligent in replying to emails. This gives
an opportunity to the patient' to present their current situation, and both the doctor and
the patient gets time to think about better options. 
4) There is no red tape in his office so if you are his patient, you get easy access to him to
convey your thoughts. Plus, you can always directly speak to the doctor and he will
address the concern personally.
5) He is very professional and courteous.
6) Eventually I got to know Dr. Avila and discovered the artist inside him. He is passionate
about his work, just like an artist is about his painting. He employs all the cyber tools
available to him to make his handiwork better and better. Through computer simulation,
striving week after week to achieve superior results to give the patient first class results at
the end when braces are out, and the smile is better plus the mouth feels more
comfortable than previous. He doesn't stick to just old procedures but has invested his
time, money and energy in the latest technology (which is really commendable) that gives
both patients and him the ability to visualize things more efficiently and do procedures in
an optimized way.
7) I really love the way he has cultivated a very strong office culture. The staff and Doc
celebrate occasions together and post in social media for patients to follow. After about 2
years of treatment, the staff feels like family.
8) He is focused on each individual patient with an equally zealous drive. His dedication
towards his profession is displayed by his efforts to taking advantage of modern
techniques in this field of medicine to achieve a superior outcome. Being in the software
field, I honestly admired his amazing handling of technology to achieve the ideal teeth
setting for me and other patients.
It took me a long time to write this review, but I would happily say that we have a gem of an
Orthodontist in Dr. Avila and I was lucky to find him in Gaithersburg. I think the other patients
are also lucky to have him as an Orthodontist because he is very efficient, reliable and
trustworthy.

pearls -like teeth.

Amazing doctor with a great team! I'm halfway through my program and am very happy with the results. From the start Dr. Avila's focus was to make sure I was happy with my program and he has been true to his word thus far. They even went out of the way to remove my brackets prior to my wedding just so we can have better pictures. Dr. Avila was out sick on the day he was supposed to remove my brackets, but was able to secure an appointment with Dr. Perez-West downstairs the same day to take care of the issue since I was flying out of town the next day. If you're looking for a good looking for an amazing knowledgeable doctor who actually cares about his patients then look no further!

Finally got my braces at age 25, and it's never too late. I did some research and decided on Sublime Smiles (kudos to Yelp). The staff is so courteous and friendly. On consultation, they aren't overbearing and take the time to explain everything to you. Dr. Avila was extremely informative and answers every single question that I may have. The prices are reasonable and competitive in comparison to neighboring offices. They will also work with you on pricing and setting up any monthly payments if you need it.

The first time I got my brackets on, Dr. Avila called me that night as a follow up and asked me how I was adjusting to them, if I had any questions, and said I could feel free to call the office with any concerns. I thought that was so thoughtful and it shows he really cares about all his patients. He will work with you on every appointment. He's super down to earth, charismatic, and works extremely well with children. He is courteous and remembers little details about your day and will bring it up.

Setting up appointments are a breeze, and there's hardly any wait time upon arrival. Plus, if you want your wires trimmed or if a bracket comes off, you can call in and they will do their best to get you in that same day or the next day.

I'm only on the 4th month but so far I'm very satisfied with the services.
All the staff members are so wonderful and professional I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Went to Dr. Avila's office for Invisalign, and just recently completed the treatment. By far the best experience I've had with a dentist (or any doctor really). Both locations have the latest technology and are decorated beautifully. Dr. Avila is very knowledgeable and responsive- I am very happy with the final results. Customer Service is pristine, and everyone in the office is just great!
