A distribution agreement between Prasco Laboratories and a division of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals will allow the Cincinnati-based company to market a generic version of the acid reflux drug Protonix being launched by Wyeth.

Prasco said Wednesday it will solicit orders for and distribute 20 mg and 40 mg formulations of pantoprazole sodium delayed-release tablets, the generic version of Protonix, as an agent for ESI Lederle. The tablets will be marketed under the ESI Lederle label, according to a news release.

Madison, N.J.-based Wyeth (NYSE: WYE) reported U.S. sales of $2.5 billion for Protonix in 2007, according to the release.

Prasco, headquartered in Sycamore Township, markets authorized generic pharmaceuticals through retail chains, independent pharmacies, distributors, wholesalers and managed-care providers.
