Doyle W. Ramey passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2010, in Elkhart, Indiana.

Doyle was born and reared in Huntsville.

He attended and graduated from Lincoln School. After graduation he entered the US Marine Corps. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa and later completed requirements for a Master's Degree in Bio Chemistry.

He pursued a career in food service, working with Swift packing Co., Miles Laboratories and later with W.R. Grace Co., from which he retired. He enjoyed the study and preparation of gourmet foods and often entertained his friends with special dinners. He also taught a class at the Forever Learning Center in South Bend, Indiana after he retired.

He was very studious, reading, writing, antiques, etc., before his health prohibited the pursuit of these things. He was a Christian and very interested in good causes.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Eva Heard Ramey and Benjamin H. Ramey, and his brothers, Thomas Ramey and Edwin Ramey.

He is survived by his son, Benjamin Ramey; four daughters, Lucinda Lowe (Matt), Amanda C. Ramey, Melissa H. Ramey and Vanessa Nobley (Craig); two grandchildren, Ashley and Tony; two brothers, Curtis E. Ramey and Donald N. Ramey; and several nieces and nephews.
