I'm a big fan of the other two Dorothy Clark books I've read ("Beauty for Ashes" and "Joy for Mourning"), but was disappointed by this one.

It had potential, but the writing seemed awkward, the characters needed more development, and the plot never really gained momentum. I stopped reading about 45% of the way through the book.

The story was a little different from your typical romance, but ohmygosh, it was so good!

Erin is this Christian girl who's passion is to help children and adults learn to read. She had a bad experience a few years before which left her jaded and afraid to get close to any man. Erin's sister, on the other hand, turned from God and "lived in sin."

David is a newspaper reporter. He's handsome and single and very much a lady's man. He has a girlfriend - though they didn't date each other exclusively...The author never says, but you can guess it was a spend the night type of relationship.

Then the two met. It was love at first sight. Erin's fear of falling in love and David's hatred of religion though kept their relationship from building. Then when Erin found out David wasn't a Christian...Well...

It's one of those books taht leaves you wondering when "it" was going to happen. There's enough action and romance in it to leave you hopeful.

The only problem I had was that Erin learned that she needed forgiveness for falling in love with a non-Christian. I thought this part was a bit harsh since she didn't actually "date" him nor did she know he wasn't a Christian. But still, it was an excellent book!

Erin Kelly has heard about David Carlson, man about town, who occasionally appears on Channel 4 news. David dates a super model named Brandee and they are each ambitious, striving to be seen in the right places with the right people. The last person he wants in his life is Erin Kelly, a born again Christian, even if she does have dark green eyes and hair the color of chili powder. David's mother died when he was four and when his missionary father and his new wife shut him out of their lives; he grew up bitter, rejecting God.

Erin knows she is falling in love with David, but he wants no part of her beliefs. Then he becomes the star witness in a murder trial, against a man whose family is determined to prevent him from testifying. This is a fast paced story about two people with different lifestyles racing full bent toward a collision course. A thoroughly enjoyable story of love and faith.
