If you are interested in photo journalism, then this is the movie for you to see ... It follows a bunch of photographers on assignment in the field. Everything from simple standard missions to various conflict zones. Kobré has done a masterful job of having the photographers tell us the stories behind their photos. We meet the brave, cunning and talented photographers who deliver the world to our homes and experience some of what they have endure to get the job done. So send the kids out, turn off the phone, out of popcorn, drink, get comfortable in the couch ... and enjoy the movie!

Thought this DVD captured the various aspects of working photojournalist's from the mundane types of assignments to those intense moments one sees via video on network news broadcasts. The DVD doesn't overplay the work of a journalist or underplay it. It shows what it is and the viewer gets to hear from the photojournalists their own personal views about their work.

Inspiring behind-the-scenes documentary on photojournalism

As the acting chair of SF State's Journalism Department and a former reporter for the SF Chronicle and the Associated Press in Los Angeles, I can say that Ken Kobre's documentary is the most accurate and revealing movie I have seen on the news business since Page One. Ken captured the essence of quality journalism by catapulting the viewer into the fast-paced and often dangerous lives of 12 photographers working for one of the biggest news organizations in the world. In documenting the story through his lens, Ken did not lecture us on how to feel about the many challenges and risks journalists face in covering the news. Instead, he kept the narrative moving so that we could see for ourselves what journalists do in seeking truth and reporting it. I am also reminded that the most dedicated journalists share some common characteristics: They are gutsy, defiant and compassionate. I recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about the news business and journalism. No amount of classes or online training will give you a better sense of our craft. Bravo!

Amazingly enlighting

This piece has enlightened me a lot on the dares these photojournalists are going through in their assignments, their containment of getting involved when something is not right and their courage to show me, us, the true facts. Just amazing. The fact that it takes us all over the world, in conflict or not, is great. Some parts of the documentary are what seems routine to us but yet the reporting is really getting involved, even in a simple piece like following the Tour de France. To film the filmer is a clever idea to show what it takes for me to get the true picture of facts. And please bring a cup of coffee to that poor bloque waiting on downing street.

This movie is great. I actually learned quite a bit on the subject of this movie. Seeing all the travels and positions journalist get into - I must confess that I am speechless. I just had no idea -
