Daryl E. Akerman, 48, of rural Ashby, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at his home.

He was born Feb. 23, 1952, in Fergus Falls to Dale and Kathryn (Melby) Akerman. He was baptized and confirmed at Kvam Lutheran Church, rural Dalton, and graduated from the Ashby High School in 1970. He attended the Fergus Falls Community College for one year.

On Sept. 15, 1973, he married Teresa Hanson at Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church of rural Dalton. They lived in the Ashby area and then lived on their present farm in St. Olaf Township for the past 10 years. He farmed and was employed with various construction companies. For the past five years he worked with Structural Specialties of Hutchinson. Mr. Akerman enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. He really loved the outdoors, nature and his hobby farm. He liked coffee with his friends and really enjoyed his family. He was a member of the Lake Region Pioneer Threshermen's Association and a lifetime member of Kvam Lutheran Church, both of Dalton.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa; his mother, Kathy Akerman of Ashby; two daughters, Lisa (Rich) Williams and Liane Akerman, both of Ashby; two sisters, Dianne (David) Larson and Judy Peterson both of Ashby; two brothers, Richard (Darlene) Akerman of Dalton and David (Karol) Akerman of Ashby; his mother-in-law, Jean Hanson of Dalton; two sisters-in-law, Candace (Dennis) Borgos of Underwood and Pam (Dan) Reger of Clitherall; a brother-in-law, Craig Hanson of Fergus Falls; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jenny; father, Dale Akerman; uncle, Russ Matchinsky and father-in-law, Alonzo Hanson.

Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church

Service: 10 a.m. Friday at Zion Saarpsborg Free Lutheran Church, rural Dalton
