Dewey (D.A.) Heggie, Jr., 84, passed away on March 17, 2017 in Yukon, OK. He was born on September 23, 1932 in Winston-Salem, NC to Dewey Alphonso Heggie, Sr. and Nettie Leona Atkins. He grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in 1950. D.A. earned an associate degree from Mars Hill College, NC, BSIE from NC State University, and MSIE from Texas Tech University. D.A. married Carol Anne Williams on September 5, 1953 in Winston-Salem, NC, and they were married for 62 years.

Throughout his life, D.A. worked as an Industrial Engineer at several Western Electric locations including Winston-Salem, NC, Kansas City, MO, and Oklahoma City, OK. He was a Planning Engineer on the Nike Zeus anti-missile. Later in his career, he held numerous positions with AT&T at Headquarters in NYC and New Jersey, including Department Chief of Corporate Energy Management, Department Chief of Corporate Environmental Engineering, Health and Safety, Department Chief of Corporate Industrial Engineering, and as the Manager of Corporate Real Estate at AT&T Headquarters. D.A. was also a member of several professional organizations including the Institute of Industrial Engineers, Association of Energy Engineers, and the National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives. D.A. retired from AT&T with 33 years of service.

D.A. was a member of various civic and social clubs including Past President of The Young Men’s Club of OKC, Past President of the Regents Dinner and Dance Club, a member of barbershop quartets and choruses in New Jersey and Oklahoma City for over 40 years and church choirs for nearly 60 years. D.A. was also a long time member of Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City, OK. D.A. and his wife, Carol, had a passion for travel. They were fortunate to travel in all 50 states, 7 Canadian Provinces, 9 European countries, Mexico, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Panama, Panama Canal, New Zealand, Australia, Columbia, Israel and several Caribbean Islands. D.A. is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Anne Williams Heggie; and his parents, Dewey and Nettie Heggie. He is survived by his daughters, Cristi Lynn Andrews of Yukon, OK and Julie Anne Likes and husband Randy of Yukon, OK; sister, Patsy Louel Rose of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Amy Curren and husband Michael of Mustang, OK, Cristina Holloway and husband Joshua of Choctaw, OK, Brian Harris and wife Kaylie of Okinawa, Japan, and Tricia Likes of Marietta, OH; and great-grandchildren, Shayla, Kyndal, Tristan, Troy, Daniel, Caleb, and Braylie.
