I applied online for a HELOC. Common Wealth CU was offering a great promotion on their HELOC. I received a prompt email back from Noel Shankar. I receive my preapproval in 5 days. Noel was very helpful and answered all my questions. I received a follow up from Joanna Hernandez and she was also very pleasant.

HORRIBLE SERVICE AFTER BEING A CUSTOMER FOR 20 YEARS!
This credit union is one of the worst, most exploitative banks I've ever used. They extort you in order to not hold your money on the way in and on the way out. Unlike most banks, they will put a hold even on payroll direct deposit, and charge you overdraft fees because they have a hold on your account. I was charged nearly $400 in fees while over $4000 sat in my account. if you don't want them to put a hold on your direct deposit, you have to pay them $25 to release it. They also try to charge for an "expedited" ACH or they will hold your money on the way out with bill pay. I work in banking and there is no such thing as an expedited ACH. There are ACH and wire transfer. According to them, an ACH can take 5 business days, which is completely untrue.
I thought the point of using a credit union was that they are member first. Even now, when almost all large banks are limiting overdraft fees and waiving them for most customers, they refuse to do the same. I only used them in the first place because my husband did. Once again the CommonWealth did it again!!! We went though the process of getting a Hm. Eq. Loan, and that went very well!!! As we did what we needed we wanted to do more to our home, so we had to call the loan department to ask for more money and once again they did a great job!!!

I've banked here for 18 year and I've had it.
1. Tellers at the bank and on the phone are incompetent. Not once in 2 year have I not spoken to a supervisor because the tellers have no clue.
2. The tellers are uneducated the speak unprofessionally eg. "um like", "well like it's because".
3. Put my funds on hold because I was traveling. When I returned it took them a week to turn my cards on. I spent a total of 17 hours on the phone in 7 days trying to get help. Finally the manager apologized and said she was going to mail me a 10$ Starbucks card for all my trouble. I never received the gift card and I was without my two checking accounts.
4. They are struggling to keep up with other larger banks. Their online services stall, or shut down, the app is basic in comparison to other larger credit unions.
5. When calling I often wait 30 minutes to speak to someone.
I'm done. I'm taking my 2 Checkings, 2 savings, car loan, 2 children's accounts, and money market to a new bank. And then I'm cancelling my visa. YO YO great credit union I have been member for many years. Received 3 loans on cars great loan rates. And credit card rates. I want to also compliment Destiny a employee at Silver creek location she is one of the friendliness efficient bank tellers I have ever met. Probably numero uno in the country. No matter what kind of day you all are having you feel better when you do business with her. Excellent customer service. They've really stepped it up with the customer service. ALL of the tellers are super sweet, efficient, professional, and smiley. Each time I come by to drop off my monthly loan payment, I can feel rest assured that I will be shown great customer service! :) The guy who serviced me yesterday 1-2-2018 Operator 606 was kind in helping me.

No line so my transaction was done in less than 2 minutes - yay! Great service by the young female who I regularly see now. She always has the nice makeup with defined brows and perfect winged liner - girl I see you! Lol
She recognized me from last month because my bf and I rode on our bikes and is always so friendly whenever Im dropping off my loan payment. I appreciate you girl! I didnt get her name but based on my receipt, you must be Operator 609.

This is my favorite CommonWealth to go to. The tellers are all very friendly and consistent. I'm writing this review specifically for my experience working with the financial service representative Joanna Estrada. Joanna has taken the time to sit with me on multiple occasions to answer my questions about opening more accounts and applying for a credit card. She is professional while sharing her own personal experiences. She is caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommend!

I have been a member of Commonwealth for about 12 years. Not sure why I'm even still using them. I get ZERO reward for being a long-time loyal member. In fact, I get the opposite...
Their mobile app has failed me a few times. This last time was the last straw. Every time I get overdraft fees, it's because I either had fraud on my account or their online banking has failed me. When I called for help on a Saturday, Desiree told me I would get a call on Monday. Didn't happen. So when I had to call again on Tuesday, Michelle was super rude and sarcastic. When I said I was unhappy and might have to switch banks because this is a continuous problem. She replies in the most smarta** tone, "OK I'm sorrrry!" Then she began to interrupt me to tell me history on my account from 3 years ago. Wtf.
I'm done. Your employees are rude, inexperienced, inconsiderate, and have no sense of customer service, and your mobile and online services are terrible!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
