The Harford City Police Department is comprised of thirteen full-time Officers. These include the Chief, Deputy Chief, two Detectives, three Sergeants, and six Patrolmen. Also included is a full-time K-9 Unit, and a five-member Emergency Response Team that trains with four members from the Sheriff’s Office.

The Blackford County Emergency Response Team (E.R.T.) 

The Blackford County Emergency Response Team (E.R.T.) consists of 2 law enforcement agencies. The Hartford City Police Department currently has 5 members on the 9-man team. The team trains several hours a month to be ready on a moments notice. All members volunteer their time to provide this service to the residents of Hartford City and Blackford County. The team also includes 4 members from the Blackford County Sheriff's Office. The team commanders are Daniel Johnson, Team Commander of the Hartford City Police Department and James Heflin of the Blackford County Sheriff's Office.

Lieutenant Lucas Phillips

The Investigations Department in the Hartford City Police Department currently consists of one detective, Lt. Lucas Phillips.  He is responsible for reviewing nearly 750 criminal complaints annually and in turn conducting the needed follow up investigations when required.
