This temple has been around since the 15th century and once housed the famed Emerald Buddha, which is now in Bangkok. The old brick chedi is still in the temple complex and continues to be used as a place of worship. The main temple is now a more modern building in front of the car entrance. This has a stunning read and gold hall with a high altar that has a statue of a standing Buddha, flanked by two monks.

The guides are very friendly and funny. They make you comfortable right away. They gave us a good briefing and explained their mission which is heart touching. The elephant are very gentle and look happy. We highly recommend this one if you are looking to spend a good time with peace of mind.

Visited this place during April 24, it is a must visit place in Chiang Mai. Architecture of the temple makes it unique. Mindset of people or monks in and around are very nice.

This is probably the biggest night market in Chiang Mai, although it also seems to merge into other night markets including the sheltered Kalare Night Market.

There's hundreds of stalls, mostly selling the usual stuff you can find in almost any other Thai market. There are some gems there though. Several of the stalls belong to artisans who make souvenir items themselves.

This was a true surprise & much different from all the other temples we visited. This ancient temple is located in a forested area outside the city & is now used for meditation by devoted Buddists from around the world.

Originally intended as a mere rest stop for weary travelers on their pilgrimage, the temple has since evolved into a sanctuary of spiritual solace and reflection. Nestled amidst lush forest surroundings, the grounds exude a sense of serenity and tranquility—an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life.

This temple is located 15 km from Chiangmai city center. It can be reached by car or motorbike. It has breathtaking view as it is located in the hill. The interesting things are the golden pagoda and the buddha image (Luang Phor Tun Jai). Furthermore, visitor can see the buddha in three postures (standing, reclining and sitting).

Enjoyed very much feeding and interacting one on one with the two elephants in their natural habitat. Getting there involves a short hike and a descent to the river as well, but the nature is beautiful and peaceful. Eddy seems to take very good care of Tomato and Papaya and is very knowledgeable about elephants in general, with clear, understandable English.
We did the half-day tour, with transport by Eddy’s van taking about 1 hour each way from Chiang Mai. Well worth it!

Thailand has so many great temples, this one is very unique and probably one of the most beautiful ones. It is a little hidden in Chiang Mai , so ask your way around or get a taxi it tuk-tuk . This is a fantastic artist piece of work with so much to discover in such a small temple.

This temple was the first to be built upon the founding of the city by King Mangrai in 1297. The oldest structure is the stupa, aka the Elephant Stupa, so named because of the elephant statues that around the base that support the structure.

The main temple has a high altar with a golden statue of the Buddha calling Mother Earth to Witness his past deeds. All around this statue is an assorted collection of Buddha statues of different sizes and poses.

A wonderful Thai Temple to visit.

Bit of a twisting road to get there but great views from top of the mountain when you do. Had welcome talk about sanctuary & elephants & donned our poncho-esk gowns (no need for wellies in dry season, trainers did get a bit dusty so don’t wear your designer white ones!!). They give you a bag with your lunch in & can put a few essentials in for day, the rest stays in your locker till you get back at end. Made food balls for elephants then fed them breakfast - even got to put it straight in their mouth as well as mostly feeding from end of trunk. Walked behind them to another feeding spot & our lunch stop, here they had water from us too (bit reluctant at first but then downed a jug in one). After lunch we followed them to the river, which was a bit shallow & not all elephants in mood for a scrub/attention but keepers just followed elephants lead & they didn’t appear to be forced into anything. After a bathe it was back to base to feed them their food balls we made earlier & say goodbye. Nice day, plodding along at elephants pace (which can be quite slow if going uphill or if there’s food around).
