Summary
This is my vision of how Cullen's life has gone during all three Dragon Age games as the tortured side character. He is the main character of these stories.
If you have not read the entire series, you will not understand what is happening. I am not that good a writer to make each story stand-alone. Too much work.Cullen is possessed of two demons that constantly war with each other and pull him to and fro.
Previously, Wrath was dominant.
Now, in his heartbroken state, it is Despair that runs things.
His struggle is real.Wrath is Italics text. Despair is small text.
Expect Updates will not be as fast as previous stories, as I am writing this one from scratch and without concrete guidelines.This is not the story that I originally intended to write. Cullen has gone completely off the rails. He will not go along with the flow. He will not listen. He will not conform. He is doing his own thing and, as much as I want to keep this true to the game, this is now truly AU.

Summary
Elharen is a Tranquil, and Tranquil do not have desires. They do not make decisions of consequence. They do not feel emotions.
But the more Cullen is around her, the more he starts to wonder if those strange little moments - moments when she says too much, or hesitates too long, or looks at him directly in the eyes and holds his gaze - aren't maybe indications that she's in there somewhere, pounding against the doors of her captivity.
There is someone there, beneath the brand, begging to be seen. He wants to see her but the shadow of Tranquility is deep and frightening, memories of its misuse in Kirkwall darkening Cullen's nightmares.
Word of a cure comes, and changes everything.

SHORT VERSION: A templar recruit (and a former Chantry sister)—whose biggest fear is possession—is having an identity crisis in the middle of the Conclave. Then all of it becomes irrelevant.
LONG VERSION: A fix-it for the Inquisition storyline, heavy on the backstory of the Inquisitor and the OCs (you have been warned). There are also canon-compliant changes, but mostly flavour. The story starts before the Conclave is announced, Cullen gets recruited by Cassandra, Trevelyan transfers from Ostwick to Kirkwall right before the announcement. The Tranquility Cure is heavily featured. Feelings of inadequacy, guilt, and failure as a person. Also: love and friendship. And, of course, a secret slow-burn romance and clandestine meetings.[CURRENT CHANGES]: Heavy Ostwick Circle headcanon; Conclave actually manages to start before the explosion happens; the way Corypheus infiltrates the Conclave is explained directly.

"We have that in common." She gives him a small, tender smile and his chest compresses painfully. But then her expression falters, a film falling over her eyes. "It must be difficult, having so many who depend on you. Knowing their lives are in your hands."
"It is," he says. "But everyone here knows the risks. They would not be here if they didn't believe in our cause."
"I know that." Her hand is still in both of his. His fingers curl loosely around her wrist. Her pulse flutters. "But I hate the idea that people could -- will -- die because of me. For me." Her voice cracks. "Especially people I care about."
"Some things are worth dying for," he says, staring up at the fractured sky.
