Great for a startup driver
Company Driver (Current Employee) - Salt Lake City, UT - April 12, 2024
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIf you've just gotten a CDL, this is the company to get your feet wet. They test your driving and backing skills for a day and if you're good, they will put you with a trainer for 5 days. After that you get your truck. Be safe out there and get your experience.
Pros
Great for getting driving experience
Cons
Takes 15 years to get .65 CPM

Horrible home time and pay
OTR Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Colton, CA - April 24, 2024
They expect you to drive and drive without paying good enough to motivate you to work harder. The fleet manager I had was horrible couldn't spell simple words with made the little communication we had difficul to understand. Wasted too much time on this company and made pennies for all the driving that I did.

Jobs at C.R. England
Terrible/cheap company
OTR Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Salt Lake City, UT - April 18, 2024
Their pay scale is 10 years out of date. Even for no experience, they are cheap. And find every possible reason to not pay. Layover is way too often. Their 4 days home a month isn’t good for any human.
Pros
Na
Cons
Terrible pay and home time

Wouldn’t recommend
Truck Driver Class A CDL (Former Employee) - Salt Lake City, UT - April 17, 2024
I wouldn’t recommend this company at all. When I started they tried to lock me into a 9 month contract, and the biggest problem with that was I didn’t make any money. I was sitting in there main yard the whole time for truck issues and they had the worst possible trainer to train me. Very unorganized

Semi Truck Driver (Former Employee) - Salt Lake City, UT - April 4, 2024
Receive instructions on the Qualcomm, proceed with trip, communication is ALWAYS there when needed, and drivers are treated with great regards.at CR.England driving school I learn how to maneuver an eighteen wheeler with absolute safety using my mirrors and maintaining safe following distance. Management is awesome. The hardest part is lay overs I don’t like lay overs it depresses me because the hardest thing to do is nothing. I enjoyed driving it relaxes me and driving safely through states enjoying nature uplifts my spirit and meditation it’s like anxiety medication for my health,if that makes sense.
Pros
Get free showers and advance cash at fuel stations
Cons
Lay overs.

What is the best part of working at the company? Everything !!!!!!!!!!! The family atmosphere the care and love thank you CR England What is the most stressful part about working at the company? I honestly don’t recall ever being stressed in this company What is the work environment and culture like at the company? I enjoyed the team players asking for help from other drivers was a blessing for me What is a typical day like for you at the company? A typical day was waking at the crack of dawn, already having my work assigned, arriving at the vendor, offloading and onto the next assignment unless, of course, there could be those days of waiting time for the vendor to off load you, but that’s part of the job

Dollar General Fleet great… corporate not so much
Driver (Former Employee) - Bakersfield, CA - March 24, 2024
Loved driving for the Dollar General fleet. Great management and GREAT pay. The downside is corporate will fire you over any stupid reason, like a single speeding ticket… that you eventually were found not guilty for.

Terrible and terrible some more and terrible some more after that, and if you complain too much that's going to be a court date for you.

Driving in the open road, Sitting behind the wheel driving 6 to 11 hours a day.
Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Tempe. Arizona - March 22, 2024
The hardest part. Sitting behind the wheel driving 6 to 11 hours a day. I learned to operate an 18 wheeler safely. The management is very company orientated. I gust did have good times and not so good times working with C.R. England. But in the end I had gotten sick and could not work for about 6 months. I never received the short term disability benefits benefits that I was insured for until I was forced to returned to work. I had not fully recovered and still under recover treatment. On the very day I was reevaluated to return to work I was informed that my benefits was to be payed.
Pros
There's always lots of work.
Cons
There is hardly any time to take a break, ever.

Management is toxic
OPS (Former Employee) - Salt Lake City, UT - March 20, 2024
I worked a few weeks and had to leave for the sake of my mental state. Management is very toxic they belittle you, gaslight you, and if you don’t suck up they write you up constantly. They don’t have a training program, instead they sit you with multiple people and hope you figure it out. If you don’t and say you were never taught that particular job you will be written up for it. Even though they don’t have any proof someone showed you how to.
Pros
Get experience to be hired at Swift
Cons
Management is toxic

CR England is a money making machine that takes advantage of there new hires who are barely learning and trying to make their way in this industry.
CDL Class A Driver (Former Employee) - Colton, CA - March 13, 2024
There is a system designed to make you fail and a work culture that is cold and does not truly care to guide you and help you succeed in this chosen career. The general work span is 6 months for most new hires, because they are constantly being replaced by new coming student drivers from their Driving Schools. Which is enrolling 150 students a week like clockwork nonstop and although funded by the government to enroll students they also bill the students up to 10k for 1 month of school. No real practice of driving nor skill set is being implemented because they were extremely short staffed at least at the time I was there.
Pros
You can obtain your CDL by CR England
Cons
Low Pay

Unfair and bias
Driver/Mentor (Former Employee) - Lebec, CA - March 12, 2024
Supervisors are great if you’re on their list of favorites. They’re petty when you don’t go above and beyond for the company. Pay is great but the benefits are trash. PTO once a year and no paid holidays. If your wheels ain’t rolling or theirs detention pay owed you won’t be seeing that till you bug them for two weeks. Sups are on salary pay so they don’t give a flying one for your money. Good luck and keep trucking!

Cool, just the pay is not that good
Driver (Former Employee) - Sacramento, CA - March 10, 2024
Worked for them around a year and I actually liked it. I used to work for their Dollar General fleet. It was a little physical but at the same time kept me fit.
