Good company
Project Coordinator II (Current Employee) - Appleton, WI - July 31, 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGood company to work for, they are still figuring out process and procedures once they have that things will be great. HR probably needs to put a fair market value on positions and let people know what the mid and max of each role is. Also need to make sure management is allowing people to grow, not hold them back because they are good.

Best working experience of my life.
Safety Director, Western Operations (Former Employee) - Sacramento, CA - January 15, 2024
What is the best part of working at the company? Everyone is supportive of each other. Very much like extended family with everyone going in the same direction on a journey. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Being "the best" you can be, every day. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Inspiring, friendly, supportive family. What is a typical day like for you at the company? leading and learning from our team members.

Jobs at The Boldt Company
Great company needs to connect with people not change management from the top down. Bottom up high performance teams not the opposite.
Sr. Project Manager (Current Employee) - Appleton, WI - November 29, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The people. Very community and charitable organization based. Would recommend as a lifetime career if you are from the area. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Lack of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Work life balance is tough in the field. In the office is peachy. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Problem solve all day everyday. People teamwork and collaborate but sometimes others are in it for themselves. Proceed with caution.

Great Company Moving in the Right Direction
Project Manager (Current Employee) - Appleton, WI - June 16, 2023
This company is a sleeper in the construction arena. Not only are they an ESOP but it’s a relatively new ESOP that as of last year is making some serious gains. If you don’t know what that means, current employees are enjoying being in on the ground floor in terms of stock price increases — something that no other ESOP company can offer. Construction project staff can vary in skill level, but the company acknowledges it and has made some key changes as of 2022 to get them going in the right direction. The future is bright at the Boldt Company.
Pros
A truly collaborative approach to building unlike the other big guys out there
Cons
Health insurance could be better, but that’s fixable

Bad management
Journeyman (Current Employee) - Nelson, IL - March 15, 2022
management tries to cut corners and do anything to save a penny, even if it’s the wrong/unsafe way. My crew has had to tell management we won’t/can’t do a task because it is unsafe or they won’t get the proper tools for us

Fun place to work, people are amazing. Lots of room for advancement and pay increases
Project Manager (Current Employee) - Appleton, WI - February 15, 2022
Boldt is a big company that still acts like a small company in that the people come first. Yes there is daily stress but you have managers that support you.

This company will let anyone that is in a higher position disrespect you and abuse their powers.
Safety Manager (Former Employee) - San Francisco, CA - January 31, 2022
A typical day at work is a 6am start because superintendent says so. I learn basic skills and some managers are good some are not. The hardest part of the job is dealing with old grumpy construction workers as well as some staff. The most enjoyable part is getting paid.

Great atmosphere
Administrative Group Manager (Former Employee) - Oklahoma City, OK - August 10, 2020
I have nothing but good things to say about the Company, culture and values. They promote within, offer training and have a collaborative approach to all of their decisions.

The Boldt Company
Laborer (Former Employee) - Appleton, WI - May 29, 2020
If you aren’t someone’s family or friend you won’t get anywhere with the company. They have no respect for anyone’s home life and they care not for workers safety unless, again, management knows your family or your buddies with the foreman. If you want a good paying union job I would suggest you look anywhere else. You will never be acknowledged for a job well done, but they will give your credit for the hard work you’ve done to, you guessed it, their buddies and family. Seriously, look anywhere else for a job.

Super great work place with a very dynamic culture
Production Engineer Intern (2nd Term) (Former Employee) - San Francisco, CA - January 30, 2020
The Boldt Company was an awesome company to work for. The culture is truly one of collaboration and teamwork. The most enjoyable part of this job was being able to work on a long-term construction project with multiple trades. I learned a lot while working with them.

Technical based work enviroment
Senior Quality Manager (Former Employee) - Appleton, WI - January 10, 2020
Boldt is a family based business that has good benefits but is a bit behind times on technology progress. Leadership has had recent changes that may affect the future of this company.

Great Company that is currently struggling
Buyer - Northern Operations (Former Employee) - Appleton, WI - December 20, 2019
The Boldt Company is a great family owned/employee owned company that is 150 years old. The culture is great and still retains the family atmosphere. They are currently struggling in the Wisconsin market due to sharp competition, which has lead to a couple rounds of recent layoffs. If they can get back on the right track in Wisconsin, they would be a nice employer to work for.

Productive
Rigger (Former Employee) - Detroit, MI - October 1, 2019
Boldt is a productive company when it comes to working in extreme environments. They place guys in appropriate positions to lead their crew, and push through whatever obstacles to complete the project.
Pros
Union Company
Cons
Not enough work

My thoughts
Safety Engineer/Safety Manager (Current Employee) - Appleton, WI - February 28, 2019
I'm over worked and under paid. Hence why I'm on Indeed. I am feeling like there isn't a lot of room for growth in the company in it's current state and am making sure to have something on the back burner just in case.

Looked good going in...
Senior Project/Construction Manager (Former Employee) - Fresno, CA - January 15, 2019
While Boldt is one of the big construction companies I have worked for, it certainly is not one of the best. The upper management culture that I reported to lacked any sort of consistency or path to follow. When needed, I did not find the type of support I expected.

Great work environment, great benefits
Level II IT Support Technician (Current Employee) - Appleton, WI - January 7, 2019
I worked for the Boldt Company for over a year before being cut for budget reasons. They are an honest and reliable workplace. The CEO makes a point to sit down and meet with every new employee brought on board. Their benefits are outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed working here.
