Wife of 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' returns home after tumor removal

Duane "Dog" and Beth Chapman, seen here at the 2013 CMA Awards, are back in Colorado after she underwent surgery to remove a tumor from her throat.

Duane Chapman, star of "Dog the Bounty Hunter," says his wife Beth has left the hospital after doctors removed a tumor from her throat last week.

On Sunday, the reality star told Us Weekly that he and Beth, 51, had returned home to Colorado from Los Angeles. Their lawyer, Andrew Brettler, confirmed the news to USA TODAY.

“They told us they didn’t want her to leave the hospital, but she was adamant (that) she just wanted to be home,” Chapman told the celebrity magazine, adding, “She’s much more comfortable now (that) she can breathe, but she just wanted to come back to Colorado, she loves it here.”

Upon returning home, he reported that “Beth slept for almost an entire day, and she was more comfortable, then she got up and she was trying to do things around the house, trying to do laundry and wash the dishes, I said to her, ‘I’ve done all that, don’t worry.' ”

Brettler confirmed to USA TODAY last week that Beth's cancer had returned, making it the second time she's battled throat cancer. She was previously diagnosed with a Stage 2 tumor last fall.

Chapman said that they expected to learn the results of her biopsy (determining whether the tumor was malignant or benign) on Monday.

“I’m nervous about the test results,” he told the celebrity magazine. “It’s like you kinda know what’s gonna happen, but you’re hoping and praying it’s not.”
