Airbag Light WCS Sensor Defect B1322

The "Passenger Airbag Off" light will not stay on when there is no passenger. I scanned the codes (Autel MD802) and it says "WCS Sensor Defect B1322" This means that the seat sensor is not working. Live data shows me that the weight is changing and sometimes stuck at 65 lbs and sometimes 35 lbs. If I touch/push on the seat just right I can get the light to come back on a few times.

The Airbag Light remains on in the dash and since the code it "Active" and not "Historical" I cannot clear it.

It seems that one or more of the weight sensors is not working right. Any easy fixes or do I need to have the dealer reset and recalibrate the seat?

THANKS!

Yeah, I think you'll need to visit the dealer for that fault unless you can find an independent garage with Hyundai specific diagnostic kit. I think the sensor comes as a replacement seat cushion and there is a reset procedure to recalibrate the pressure sensor that needs to be done with the Hyundai diag tool.

This error was cleared when I replaced the overhead light fuse. Very strange chain of events.

First I had a Passenger Curtain Low Resistor value error. Fond a badly seated plug and reseated it. In the process blew a fuse in the overhead lights. That triggered another error.

Then the overhead lights fuse was repaired the error became historical and has not come back since.

For some strange reason the fuses in the Entourage are linked in very strange ways to other parts of the system. The same blown fuse set my blower fans on high front and back.

Thanks for posting back with the fix for that fault. I'll file that away for future use:) I would never have guessed that a blown room lamp fuse would be tied in with the PPD sensor, but that's why I advise to check ALL the fuses whenever there is an electrical fault. Is that all your airbag issues resolved now? You've certainly given your little Autel a good workout.

Need to go into WCS and re-calibrate WCS... does not mean sensor fault, calibrate WCS usually remedy that

I'm glad you stopped by:)

Do you think the blown room lamp fuse was the cause of this DTC or are you saying it's a WCS calibration issue that has caused it? Would the code change to historic without having the calibration done? I'm not familiar with the Entourage. They are marketed by Kia here in the UK so I've never worked on one (called Kia Sedona in the UK).

Regards.

Have to check wire diagram, but I would not think an SRS item be fused to an illumination circuit..

Sedona came out first here in 2006, bunch of recall right after release, then Entourage come along for 2007 here.. seen a bunch of WCS DTC, most for weight, simple clear DTC from SRS and WCS modules, then reset seat weight.

1 dealer I was at during 2003 - 2007 time frame, we were Hyundai and Kia,, enough to make you want to scream

I've not had much exposure to Kia, but I quite enjoyed my time working with Hyundai. The dealer were I worked had Hyundai, Mitsubishi & Mazda then they dropped Mazda and took on Daewoo because the Mazda was too reliable and the workshop wasn't making anything off them. Daewoo was the complete opposite:) Daewoo was bought over by GM and became Chevrolet in the UK and I see the same models marketed as Suzuki in the US. All the Asian cars I've worked on were pretty good, then I went to VW and that made me want to scream...Euro Trash!

2008 Kia Sedona B1322 WCS reset

So I just bought a 2008 Kia Sedona. Had to move a friends cat to my house. In the process he pissed on my passenger front seat. And as you know you can not get rid of cat piss smell. So I found a complete used seat online and they delivered. Sio I installed the seat, hooked up the air connectors and started engine. Air bad light stayed on :-/ I've been a mechanic for over 25 years so this isn't something new. Hooked up my Autel Mini to check codes. B1322 WCS. So I cleared codes. Code remains. Performed recalibration. Failed! Live data showed 2048kg of weight on seat but, there was nothing on the seat. Took my old seat apart to connect weight sensor. Same problem failed recalibration. So I started disconnecting air cables to make sure I had the correct sensor. Nothing changed. To make things easy on myself I removed the airbag module P/N 214665-108 located under the seat. Swapped with the other I had on hand. Checked and cleared codes. Performed recalibration. This time the seat sensor showed almost no weight on seat. Recalibration complete. Just sharing this before others replace the weight sensor. This actually might be your problem.

Hi, I have the same issue on my 2015 Sonata hybrid with B1322. Did you buy a used airbag module P/N 214665-108 located under the seat? How to perform recalibration by dealer or yourself? Thanks in advance!

I had the exact same symptom at my 2007 Elantra after I had a rear-end collision accident. My scanner showed DTC B1322 and the live data showed -22 ~ -20 kg. I couldn't figure out the exact logic the Airbag Control Unit (ACU) returns an error code, but according to the service manual, I think it returns the error code when it measures +/-6 kg error. So, what I did is there are 4 WCS sensors underneath the passenger seat. Two bolts in front are accessible without removing the seat, the other two bolts can be accessed by removing the seat. So, I turned on my bluetooth scanner which can read live data of Occupant Classification Sensor(OCS) data, and I tightened two bolts holding the front WCS sensors. I reduced the error to ~0.13 kg when there is no passenger, I erased the error code, and enjoyed a test drive for 30 mins and the light was just gone.
