AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware, Nemours reach provider agreement

AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware and Nemours Children’s Health System have signed an agreement that will give members of the managed care plan access to Nemours’ hospitals, physicians, and other health care services and facilities.

Financial terms of the deal are being kept confidential.

AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware is a managed care health plan serving Delaware residents using Medicaid and long-term services and supports. AmeriHealth Caritas is a unit of Philadelphia-based Independence Health Group that it operates in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. It operates in 17 states and the District of Columbia and serves more than 5.6 million Medicaid, Medicare and Children’s Health Insurance Program members

In October, AmeriHealth Caritas was awarded a contract from Delaware's Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Medicaid and Medical Assistance to provide managed Medicaid and long-term services and supports statewide. The contract became effective Jan. 1.

The Nemours health system is the parent organization for Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, 12 primary care clinics located throughout Delaware, and a network of specialty and urgent care locations in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Nemours Children's Health System also includes Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Fla., along with outpatient facilities in six states.
