Mrs. Alma Ruth Lomax Smith, 87, formerly of Lake Road, died Tuesday afternoon, July 8, 2008 in the Hospice Home of High Point. She was born September 8, 1920 in Guilford County, a daughter of the late Odell W. Lomax and Rosa Stanley Lomax. She was a retired employee of Modern Carving, Inc., with over twenty-five years of service. Mrs. Smith was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class and the Women's Society. She was married to Grady Arnold Smith, who died April 12; 1997. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Donnie Leonard in 1986. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Saundra Leonard and her husband Rayvon and Mrs. Linda McGee and her husband Paul, all of Thomasville; grandchildren, Scott McGee and his wife Gay of Denton and Tracey Lyndon and her fiancé Chris Boggs of Thomasville; and great-granddaughters, Callie McGee and Hunter McGee. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2008 at 11 A.M. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with Rev. Ben K. Shepherd and Mr. Robert Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
