Poor communication, petty, no respect

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Training videos are literally cartoon like. Communication is severely lacking. High turnover of nurses and doctors alike. They suddenly decided to eliminate all their LPNs, for bogus reasons. Cannot give a definite last day of work, no severance package, no thank you for your YEARS of service. Management will lie. Do not recommend.

Didn't really know management with ACH. Loved my job site and coworkers.

Worked faithfully for 2 1/2 yes for ACH. Loved my job site and coworkers. Gained a lot from serving the inmates as a healthcare professional. Never disciplined or had any negative issues on the job. Out of blue, ACH sent out an email stating my employment was being terminated due to law suits within their company. No LPN's met their qualifications any longer. I never saw management but maybe 2 times in the length of time I was employed. Don't recommend this company.

Pros

Coworkers and serving the inmates.

Cons

Management never checked in from ACH.

Poor communication

Incredibly poor communication between administration (higher ups) and front line workers. Training was generic (and at times not appropriate i.e. referring to individuals presenting with delerium as "naked and crazy") videos online. Severely lacking in support, with overworked, unheard, and underappreciated staff.

What people like

  • Fair pay for job
  • Ability to meet personal goals

The turnover rate is extremely high in both the field and corporate. Management is not honest with you and you never feel secure in your role.

Typical day varies on role. Upper management is horrible. They will lie and falsify reasons behind their actions. Even if it’s at the expense of an employee. They do great with recognition. But it’s short lived. Their business practices are shady and the high turnover rate proves that point.

Pros

Pay is better then average, but still not worth it

Cons

High stress, lack of job security. Healthcare is very expensive

Trust the Negative Reviews

The negative reviews on poor leadership, lack of training and nepotism are accurate. There are no good things to say about working here. If you're thinking about applying, reconsider.

Mostly negative due to managers and other co-workers who forget that they had to learn at one time too.

What is the best part of working at the company?Benefits start right away. Pay is fairly competitive. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?U always understaffed. You are expected to know the job immediately after just a few weeks of training and made to feel stupid if you don’t. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It’s a jail. Very secure. Co-workers in medical are very cynical. Correction Officers and other jail staff don’t always appreciate medical. They often times question the nursing staff’s medical opinions and do not always care about the inmates. Some jails have a lot more work than others yet everyone seems to get paid about the same. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Very busy with new bookings and current inmates. Tons of inmates on medication pass and one nurse passing meds for the whole jail.

Very very poor communication

No communication with cooperate. Always short staffed. Little to no training. Safety is concerning with no training to help with this. No work life balance. No incentives to employees that are dedicated.

Pros

The guards are great

Cons

Poor communication

I would NOT recommend!

When I first started it seemed like a great place to work, but I found out quickly it was not. It’s a family owned company. Management is horrible. They treat employees like horrible unless you’re one of their favorites. The training is horrible and they expect for you to know everything within a week’s time. The turnover rate is high. The owner has his grandchildren in high positions and they are so rude. They don’t take any of your complaints seriously. I would not recommend working here.

Pros

None

Cons

Stay away

Lack of face to face management support, no communication, follow managers direction to process paperwork and later terminated because of it. Termination paperwork filed with incorrect information and was never reviewed with the employee. Company processed the paperwork without employee concurrence of content. Do not recommend pursing a job for this company.

Pros

No pros.

Cons

No face to face management interaction, no management support on conflicts with jail staff

Excellent Pay

The pay is amazing, and immediate supervisors are responsive, but higher up, I don’t know who they even are, and it seems like you can be thrown under the bus pretty easily

Worst compant to work for.

Highly do not recommend anybody work for ACH. They provide no support for site staff. Regional nurse mangaers and corporate staff do not respond to questions or provide any help—very unprofessional behavior for a large company. The overall job was enjoyable but this company is strictly concerned with money and not inmates' healthcare.

Pros

Nothing

Cons

Benefits, supervisors, Hr.

I loved ACH

I enjoyed my time working for ACH at Crawford County. Management was good, pay was pretty good. Raises given, time off was honored mostly, Environment was clean for a jail.

Pros

Most everything

Cons

Insurance was high, occasional long hours.

Don’t work here if you want any kind of work-life balance

I carried the workload of 4-5 people and when I asked for help, repeatedly, was told I wasn’t doing enough. I was working 12 hour days at my desk for the salary of 8. Job descriptions, duties, hiring and firing decisions, and salaries are changed arbitrarily. You will not be valued here - there is a reason they can’t keep a full corporate staff. There are major leadership issues that have a large impact on day-to-day operations of the company. It is fulfilling work, but the utter lack of work-life balance and zero job security makes it an awful company to work for.

Pros

Work experience

Cons

Healthcare, no real breaks, work-life balance, leadership

Excellent support of staff

Training was well thought out and the company supported its employees. Lots of educational opportunities were available and there was always someone on call you could reach out to.

Poor management

I love the jail I work at but the management is awful. The turnover rate is very high for management, communication from corp is poor, and my DMO is rude. They think that we don't communicate from jail to jail but we do and upper management is not well liked because of how rude they are and the fact that they throw those under them under the bus to save themselves. They also put people in management positions who have never worked in a jail, which makes zero sense.

Not the best place to work

Working is not the hard part in this job. The way they treat their employees is probably the worst. If you work weekends its very hard to get any time off. And sick time only certain people can use it without a Dr. excuse. If you have family in the hospital you are still required to be at your job because they never have any PRN's that will work on weekends. And supervisors definitely wont come in to cover you.

Pros

wages

Cons

no scheduled lunch breaks, poor management, unable to take vacations when you want, no sick time will be paid unless you have a dr excuse. The list goes on and on.

Don't work here

They are dishonest and will gaslight you. Never answer survey questions honestly. They are financially wasteful, and unorganized. Orientation is disorderly. Questionable leadership. High turnover. Micromanagers.
