Black Base & Adjustable Bracket

I was a little concerned when I saw the other review about image quality being poor, but I think they got a bad unit. The one I received is fantastically clear. I have no issues focuses, near, far, wherever you are, soldering stuff.

I will say that there are a few plastic parts that feel cheap, and make me concerned considering it's only a 1 year warranty.

Also, and this is important, there's screen lag when running at 1080P. I dropped resolution to 720P, and the lag is virtually unnoticeable. This can be an issue for soldering, but at 720P it worked great.

The thing that bothers me the most is the LED lights. They position fine, but there's something about them that irritates my eyes. I don't know if there's flickering, or if it's just the color temperature, but they definitely bother me.

I do recommend this, but keep those caveats in mind.

Searched for months for a moderately priced magnifier for soldering. The large 8 inch screen is a huge plus. There's ample space below the lenses & the base. I was pleasantly surprised by how clear the screen image is. I wish there was an HDMI out port but apart from that very please with the purchase.

I saw this in use on a YouTube soldering video and thought it would be handy for so much, including just general science exploration. Within hours of receiving it, my kids helped me spot some mites on our house plant leaves and we'd had a blast looking at money, tools, hands, etc under the microscope. It's so much more accessible than an optical microscope and the images are easily shared. We had a small birthday party gathering a few days into ownership and several other dads oohed and aahed over it with me and a few said I'd probably sold a few based on my demos. Two thumbs up for sure.

I tried multiple models of Andonstar microscopes, and so far the best one was model AD207. I ordered this one (AD208) thinking it would be an upgraded version of AD207, but it it's not. The AD208 image quality is worse than AD207, and it's more similar to the cheaper microscopes in the $99 bracket or below. Even though the screen is bigger (8.5" vs 7" on AD207), but there's really no benefit of this larger screen. The 7" screen is perfectly fine for whatever you need to do.
In summary, this is an OK microscope, but for the same price you can get an AD207, which has a much better image quality.
