I enjoyed 1334 a bit more than its accompanying short film Pig. Made over a decade after the suicide of Rozz Williams (who collaborated with Nico B. on Pig and fronted the band Christian Death), 1334 functions as both a suicide reenactment and a personal ghost story that seems to examine the ways in which the specter of Rozz still haunts the lives of those he was close to. Sometimes goofy, but for the most part genuinely creepy and somehow touching, 1334 is a decent watch for fans of cult weirdness.

It feels terrible to critique a sincere work of grief. But this could've been so much better with a little editing and a little more focus. Honestly I wish there had been a voice over, more of an oral history approach, discussing the experiences that are being shown here. Would it be less artsy? Sure. But I think it would have been more affecting. The relative weakness of the visuals simply did not convey those experiences powerfully enough for words to be unnecessary.
Experimental film about the suicide of Rozz Williams. I feel like this is the type of thing that people who don't like avant-garde films describe when they talk about everything wrong with the genre. I get why someone would like this movie if they're really into Christian Death, but to me - this is some seriously student film-esque stuff.
There's the obvious influence of movies like Begotten here, and I'm fairly sure some of the music here directly influenced the music in House Of 1000 Corpses. That said, you enter trope city here - the fog machines, the inverted film stock, the slo-mo fights ala Russ Meyer, even a lot of the synthesizer music and overacting.
If you want some heavy handed amateur filmmaking from a goth icon, maybe Doppelherz by Marilyn Manson is a stronger pick. Unless you're a Christian Death completist - I'd pass on this one.
the director ditched completely his 60s like camerawork to make this film which is somehow even more surreal than it's prequel pig. i don't i will rewatch neither of them

Подивіться - не зашкодить, але спершу зацініть Pig - 1334 це такий собі сіквел, що розмиває реальність і фікшн.
Well, Pojebany film pojebany tak bardzo jak poglądy mojego kolegi Mateusza. Cały film ma otoczkę takiego nie zrozumienia i chaosu dosłownie tak samo miał mój kolega Kuba który w marcu 2023 też pełen chaosu schlał się w trupa i zarzygawszy podłogę prawie zgwałcił koleżankę. Overal myślę że chujowy film i będę musiał z niego się wyleczyć tak jak po tym co zobaczyłem w marcu ubiegłego roku
The fighting scene is pretty ridiculous, but the inverse film smoke shots look great. I really want to track down that old man mask.
